Urban Decay Releases Lipsticks

Makeup mogul and cult-cosmetics fave brand, Urban Decay, has just announced the release of their new lipsticks! Available in 22 shades, every color you could hope for is covered: I love the look of “Apocalypse” (a gorgeous deep blackberry). UD’s lip colors are packaged in their signature purple and silvery design and billed as super creamy. Each lipstick is retailing for $22.
Has anyone had a chance to pick up a Urban Decay new lipstick? I’d love to hear your thoughts… and I’m hoping to splurge a bit and grab that Apocalypse!
And I guess this is further proof that lipsticks are making a comeback. To tell the truth, I was getting a bit sick of all the over-the-top super sticky high-shine lip glosses.

Powerful Beauty with Bionic Beauty
Over the past few weeks, I have been reaching out to women across the internet. Bloggers, editors, models, artists, entrepreneurs, makeup artists and doctors to name a few. Asking them all the same question: “How do you define and achieve Powerful Beauty?”
I will be featuring these inspiring women’s answers each Friday for the next few months, with the first “Powerful Beauty” feature posting this Friday. I have been blown away by the strength, character, and diversity of the answers. I think you’ll really enjoy reading and getting to know these ladies.
And I welcome my reader’s to participate as well. If you’d like to contact me with your own definition of Powerful Beauty, feel free to use the contact form and I will feature you here on the Bionic Beauty blog. Or simply leave a comment below or after one of the upcoming features. I believe we’ll have lots to discuss.
Enjoy the feature, and most of all- enjoy YOURSELF! It doesn’t matter if we’re big, small, blonde, brunette, or even pink or blue haired (I tested this theory myself… more on that soon), curvy, straight, whatever. We’re all unique and in that, we’re all beautiful. Well, at least that’s my definition.
And now… my favorite “powerful” song: I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.

Possible Bloggus Interruptus

As some of you may know, I live in coastal Central Florida (a small beach town called Satellite Beach). Anyhoo, if you’ve seen the news, you know there’s a potential hurricane/tropical storm headed for Florida. The Bionic Husband has done a splendid job getting us all prepared. But if we lose power, I may not be as responsive as normal to emails or your comments. I promise I will get back with you once all the power is restored (crossing my fingers we don’t lose power). I’ll still be posting the usual makeup and skincare articles, reviews and news so be sure to visit.
If any of my readers are in Florida- stay safe and sane. ![]()

Product Review: John Varvatos Perfume
Every gal likes to smell good, right? So I’m here with a suggestion for your next “special night out” perfume; or parfume as the fancy-schmancy types say it. John Varvatos’ fragrance. It’s packaged in a very sleek light pink orb that looks just perfect sitting in my retro sixties bathroom (yep, it’s pink too…). I will admit, I wasn’t an immediate fan of this fragrance, but once I wore it and it warmed onto my skin I started to enjoy it. It’s certainly not for everyday (due to price and it smells a bit too fancy for prancing around dusting the house); but I like it for date nights with Bionic Hubby.
Is it for you? Hmmm… hard to tell since our preferences are all so unique. So I’m going to run through the scent layers to better help you decide if this is something you’d be interested in.
Introductory Scents: Coriander flower, Georgian apricot, Damascus plum, Golden mandarin from Sicily, Aromatic Grappa “Di Nebbiolo” accord.
Background Scents: Tolu balsam, Adriatic oakmoss, Styrax from Laos, Patchouli extra pure, Wild honey from Spain, Tonka beans from Venezuela, Hibiscus seeds from Ecuador.
John Varvatos Eau de Parfum is available via their website in either 1.6 oz ($70) or 3.3 oz ($92) bottles.

Timeless Beauty in The Beauty Ideal Magazine

I was honored to write a feature article for August’s The Beauty Ideal magazine. The Beauty Ideal is an online magazine featuring 5-6 stories that surround a central beauty topic. It’s published monthly and organized by the Beauty Blog Network. This month’s topic was Timeless Beauty.
If you have a chance, check out my article and let me know your thoughts on the subject. I’d love to hear your thoughts on Timeless Beauty!
