Halloween Makeup Ideas: Part III

Another quick post in the Halloween series. This video is an interview with Wicked star Idina Menzel. During the interview they apply the basics of her green witch makeup. Some great hints and tips here…. and I had no idea that they used MAC cake makeup for the base! Guess you learn something new everyday. :)

Happy hauntings, my friends!

Liquid Eyeliner Tip

Bionic's Beauty Tips
I’ve used pencil eyeliners for years, but recently expanded my collection with a black liquid liner. I use it when I want a sharp line or a little extra “wing” for drama.

At first, I couldn’t seem to get a smooth line, then I discovered this little secret. Remove the liner wand and hold it out in the air for 10 seconds or so before you start to line. It lets the liquid eyeliner dry a bit and hence produces a smooth, clump free, blotch free line!

Halloween Makeup Ideas: Part II

Found this video on YouTube. The lady creates a really pretty effect using eyeshadows and liners. She calls it a “Fairy-look”, but I think this would work for a princess, butterfly, or just something to go with your regular clothes for Halloween night. It also would look gorgeous in blues or purples! If you do not have the MAC shadows she used, you could use eye shadows from Milani or NYX (at your local drugstore) or L’Oreal HIP pigments (Walmart, Target, drugstores); basically any shadow as long as it has a high color saturation. :)

Products used include:
MAC shadestick~ sharkskin
MAC eye shadow~ Tilt
MAC eye shadow~ beautiful iris
MAC eye shadow~ Aquadisiac
MAC powerpoint eyeliner~ Engraved
Stila~ tinted moisturizer
GOSH lip liner~ Pink peony
MAC lipgloss~ Fine china
MAC glitter pigment~ Neon 60’s

Halloween Makeup Ideas: Part I

In honor of the spooky holiday next week, I’m going to post up some relatively easy makeup videos. Hopefully the vids will spark your imagination in case you haven’t settled on a costume yet.

The first video is for traditional(-ish) Geisha or Maiko makeup. I am considering doing this for trick or treat night (I always dress up to hand out candy). Most of the products used could be swapped out with ones already in your house or makeup case.

Anyone else dressing up?

SunSilk Haircare Reviewed

After sampling the SunSilk Haircare line (I used the Anti-flat variety), I decided to share my thoughts. :)

The shampoo and conditioner samples were pretty darn generous (as far as freebies go). I got 3 washes for my medium length hair. Both smell wonderful, not too strong and it doesn’t end up lingering all day. The sudsing action was also sweet! My hair came out soft, smooth, and not tangled after each use.

For a well-rounded test, I let my hair air dry as well as blow-drying and both left my hair with extra fullness and *bounce*. Very impressed!

The Anti-flat styling creme also performed splendidly. It kept fly-aways at bay, while pumping up volume. However, it didn’t go over the top (I’m one of those weird women who doesn’t like “too much” volume, I’d almost rather have flat hair.

You can find SunSilk products at your local Wal-Mart or Sunsilk Anti-Flat Shampoo at Drugstore.comSunsilk Haircare for $3.99.
