Shimmering Facial Whip by e.l.f.

e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip face color

On a recent order from e.l.f. (eyes lips face) cosmetics, I added the Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal to my cart. This product is billed a an all-over face color.
Pros:

  • Nice, saturated color.
  • Creamy consistency allows for moisturizing.
  • Very affordable, sized right for travel.
  • Light and fresh citrus fragrance. Fades quickly, but smells nice during application!
  • Wears for a quite a long time, even in humid environments.

Cons:

  • Some ingredients have the potential for sensitivity or reactions (glycerin and derivatives; parabens; mineral oil; alcohol can be drying; lots of artificial coloring).
  • Small sized tube.
  • This creamy product is a bit thick and hard to blend.
  • Color is too light for most skin tones (even on my medium skin, it looks like my cheeks are lighter than the rest of my face).

In summary, I probably will not repurchase this product. It just does not seem to perform as well as I’d like. The color is a bit off, and it does not blend well. Even for a dollar, I’d pass and purchase another e.l.f. product.
Purchase e.l.f.’s (eyes lips face) Shimmering Facial Whipe.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip face color online or at some of your local Kmart stores. $1.00 for a tube.

I saw this too and wondered about it. Can you mix a little with your liquid foundation to get a slight shimmery effect for summer you think? I think if I saw it at Kmart I might pick it up, but not order it online.
Oh, check out my review on waterproof lashblast on my blog…finally did it!

A friend of mine uses a different all-over color by ELF and really likes it (totally blanking the name right now), but then she is VERY pale. Do you have a face highlighter that you recommend?

Tammy, I did just try mixing it with my elf TM (Tinted Moisturizer) and it worked really well. Great summer look! I also found that’s it is nice as a shimmery base for your eyelids.

Cheap Chick- That’s the all-over color stick. I believe the colors are similar but it’s in more of a cream concealer stick type of form. I’m going to order that in my next elf order (just won a $5 gift card from them so I got some shoppin’ to do!).

Anyone else have suggestions on what I should try from elf next? :) I’m always happy to be a guinea piggy.

Hmmm, I tried the all over color stick “foundation” and it was really greasy to me! But then again, I have combination/oily skin, so….

I own this in the color Persimmon, and I really think it’s great to use as a cream blush, or as a highlighter over your blush. When I wear it, I get complimented on my “glow.” However, if you don’t like the consistency…well, that’s not going to change with the color! But in a darker color I think it’s very worth it. I also had it in Pink Lemonade, and found that shade to be good for very pale (natural blonde and fair) faces. On me it was a touch too light.

Thanks for the review. Good to know what e.l.f. products to look out for and what to avoid.

Thanks for the 411 on the facial whip - I had been wanting to pick this up but I am medium to dark so i doubt it will even show up on me. I don’t know if you or any of the fellow readers are close to a big lots store but they also have elf products. I picked up a pallete and some gloss refills that were on clearance I got the pallette and 3 gloss for like .85!! They have sets that have 2 products for $1.80. WOW . Happy 4th!

Victoria -
I picked up the all over color stick in Toasted from Target. It’s much darker than it looks online, and I think they carry the facial whip in that color as well. You could probably give that a try if you are darker skinned. I wanted to try it as a bronzer style, but it was a little too dark for me - possibly great for you!

Katie, Thanks for helping Victoria out! I agree on the Toasted shade. And you found it at Target? WOW! I haven’t seen the elf line at my local store, but I’m certainly going to be keeping an eye out- Thanks! :)

Victoria, Don’t you just love those sales! And thanks so much for the tip on Big Lots. I have one just down the street and will definitely be stopping to check it out.

Tammy, Thanks for the mini-review on the all-over color stick. I can’t decide what I should order now with my $5. (That’s my limit, lol) I’ve tried the cream eyeshadows, but not their nail polish (which most is out of stock currently) or their powder shadows, so maybe those are things I could try.

If you have MAC or Milani Eye shadows, you should try and pick up some empty quad palettes from ELF, they fit the MAC and Milani pans, plus they are only $1 and have a mirror…I LOVE them, especially for travel.

Tammy, Excellent point! Thanks for letting me (and the BB readers) know that they fit. I, personally, have zero MAC shadows, but I have a ton of the Milani’s. I just love Milani eyeshadows! (Hint… there may be a chance for some readers to pick some up in the coming weeks…)

Thanks again!
BB
