It seems like every year I go on the quest for the perfect SPF lotion. I’ve found quite a winner in True Blue Spa’s 29 and Holding.

29 and Holding is a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 29 (which means it blocks UVA and UVB rays), contains the much hyped (and effective) PARSOL 1789, plus it smells delish (scented like an orange creamsicle). A bonus for me is that this SPF lotion is free of glycerin- so those of us with sensitivities can use it on face and body!
This sunscreen proves that you can have a quality product, at a reasonable price, and without glycerin. This is one of the tops on my list this summer. You can pick up 29 and Holding at your local Bath and Body Works or BBW.com for $12 for a 6 ounce tube.
Now go enjoy the sun safely!

Did you try this under makeup? If so, mineral makeup or another type?
I, too, am always looking for sunscreens and while some are great alone, they don’t always work well under makeup…you can start feeling like a heavy mask is on your face.
Good question Luci! I have terribly oily skin and I am having the hardest time finding a sunscreen to use under my makeup.
Hey Jami,
Did you like this better than the Hampton Sun SPF 15 Gel? I had thaton my wish list.
Thanks
I’ve had okay luck with Garnier’s 28 SPF under my mineral foundation – but it’s soooooo strongly scented, if you have allergies, this stuff will knock you out!
Oh, yes- this stuff smells s.c.r.u.m.p.t.i.o.u.s.! I loved borrowing it from you when I was in SB.
Thanks BB! Another great reeeview!
luv this sun screen.. protect me from worst side effect UV
Ok ladies, SO sorry it has taken me forever to respond to you. I hope you accept my humble apologies!
Luci, I would not recommend this one under makeup. It’s more of a “I’m going to spend the day in the sun” sunscreen. Not a daily wear face sunscreen. Does that make sense? I think it would make your foundation slide right off.
Nicki, I’d recommend the Hampton Sun over this for face sunscreen for daily wear. Both serve their purpose for me, but the Hampton Sun spray gel was GREAT under makeup. Hasn’t been beat in my mind. Plus if you aren’t allergic to glycerin like I am, you could try the Hampton Sun SPF 15 and SPF 30 face gels and lotions. I tried them on my arms and body and they were REALLY nice, but I just can’t use them on my face… due to my allergies. Ugh.
Cheap Chick, The Garnier one is scented like oranges or citrus, right? I like some of their stuff, but when they released that silly eye roller de-puffer gadget, that line jumped the shark for me. hee hee!
Joycey, Yep, you did wear this one!! Not enough though… uh hum!!
Vira, Thanks! And welcome to Bionic Beauty! I hope to see you around here in the future. Stop by anytime!
Cheers,
Jami (BB)
Thanks for letting me know. This is why I love your blog, it saves me time and $$$!
Yesterday, I used the Neutrogena 45SPF Healthy Defense Daily Facial Moisturizer (untinted) under makeup. It worked well and stayed put all day. I was careful not to apply a thick layer and this made for a smooth look.
