A Case of the Blues

You know I’m a total fan of Purely Cosmetics (here’s my recent review). The customer service is perfect, the mineral makeup is my holy-grail of makeup, so it made sense for me to try out the eyeshadows.
Here’s a look I created using three of the Purely Cosmetics “Versatile Powder” loose shadow pigments.

Read on for colors, details and such…

Using eyeshadows in Caribbean Blue (slight shimmer, medium blue), Blue Violet (gorgeous duo-chrome deeper blue eyeshadow), and Nearly Nude Shimmer (neutral shadow with hint of golden shimmer). ($7.95 each and are packed in a sifter jar. Be sure to check out the “mystery color” offering for only $2!)

The Nearly Nude shadow also has added kaolin clay making it an amazing base. Use it across your entire lid to help prevent creasing, slip, and to pump up the color impact. It’s also very pretty on it’s own.

I started by using Nearly Nude Shimmer across my entire lid (for a base) into the crease and up to the eyebrow (to serve as a brow highlighter). I also dabbed a bit in the inner corner of my eye to brighten the area.

Next I applied Caribbean Blue across my lid and blended it up into the crease until it faded into the Nearly Nude.

Finally I added Blue Violet in the outer V of my eyelid and swiped a line of it under my lower lashline. You could leave out the lower line if your eyes are pretty big, but as mine are on the small-ish side, I like to “open them up” using this method. Finished with a coat of mascara.

This is a very wearable blue look. From a distance the colors look like a slate color. I got loads of compliments! The shadows all wore very well, no creasing, and lasted all day in the Florida humidity (even through a gym workout).

If you’d like to try out Purely Cosmetics eyeshadow offerings, take a look at their 22 color sample kit. You’ll get samples of well, 22 colors of their highly pigmented shadows packed in little baggies for $25. Each baggie (what I have above) will last you several applications, so this kit is quite the bargain for color lovers!

They look gorgeous on you! I wish I had an eyelid instead of a puffy, wrinkly pouch!

Awww shucks, Robyn. Thanks!! Feel free to use the photos. :) And I’ve seen your eyes. I *SO* wouldn’t call them pouches. Nope. You’re bee-you-tee-full!
