Bionic Asks: What do you want to see on Bionic Beauty in 2010?

Bionic Beauty Asks - Makeup and beauty question blog article series

This week’s Bionic Asks is focused on the direction of the Bionic Beauty blog for 2010. What do you want to see more of? Do you have products you’d like to see reviewed? Or more of a certain type of article?

My focus has always been to keep that delicate balance of indie and mainstream brands, focusing on what works best and for the best price range. There are a multitude of beauty blogs out there that cover the never-ending MAC collections and similar content. Instead my hope is to provide the “different” content- weekly Powerful Beauty contributors, brands you may not have tried, DIY tips to save you money, scouting out free samples, and saving all of our beauty budgets by digging through the drugstore sales.

All suggestions are welcome, but please keep in mind that I’m only one person with the help of Joycey Couture and Bionic Bronnie as my contributing authors. We’ll always try our best though to make Bionic Beauty the blog you want to read!

Hi ! Well I love your blog, and I’ve been reading it since I discovered it a few months ago. I particularly love your reviews. I’d like to see more reviews for hair care brands like Carol’s Daughter, Aveda, and Nexxus. Also more drug store hair and makeup brands. I’m glad that you don’t ONLY focus on the big name brands though. I love trying new things that I would have never scouted out on my own !

Hey, Jami! 🙂 I have always enjoyed your blog! Thank you very much for asking us readers what we’d like to seee more of on your site. I appreciate your efforts to include info and items that would be of interest to us, and your consideration of all brand names and price ranges, besides the obvious “what works”. Because of you, I discovered the wonders of Sally Beauty Supplies, with the Ion Brilliance premanent colors being my most “cherished” find (*LOVE* that stuff).

I can’t think of anything right now that I’d like to see more of on the site. But a package of Oreos says I think of something late at night, when I wake up and can’t get back to sleep for an hour. LOL Oooh, I thought of something…. Target is where I get most of my makeup, hair care, and skin care items. If you could include reviews and/or features on items commonly found at Target (and similar stores), that would be fab. It’s rare that I can buy anything of a more high-end nature. These days, that’s more true than ever for me, as for many others.

Thanks to you and your Bionic Buddies for all of your work! Rock on. 😀

Oooo! More how-to videos on YouTube, please! Also, I like it when you geek out about the things that interest you, like Twilight and New Moon and Harry Potter. You’ve got a fun personality, and it’s cool to see it shine through on your site!

Yes there are definitely YouTube videos scheduled for this year. 🙂 I can’t wait to start filming!

I’ve been “geeking out” lots lately, but you are completely right. I realized it the other day… my personality has just not been showing through here on BB for quite a few months. I miss that. I’m working to get my quirky & creative side in sync again… so I can write some more interesting articles.

I have a new addiction by the way. Or actually a few- Caprica (on SyFy), and I just got the first season of Battlestar Gallatica on DVD last night. Ruh roh!! 😉

No worries, Jami. As CC said, it’s cool to see your fun personality shining through. Just hang in there. 🙂

“Battlestar Galactica”? I was a fan of that show — but waaaaaaay back many moons ago. LOL I was a huge “BG” fan back then. I loved Jayne Seymour on that version — she always looked so great. Still does. I wonder what beauty products she uses!? (Hmm, maybe she’s a Bionic Beauty reader, ya think?? Wouldn’t that be cool! LOL) Never saw the more recent “BG”. Enjoy your dvd’s!! 😀

I used to watch the old BG too! In this version, some things are way different. Like Starbuck is a GIRL. Huh?!? I did the 😯 face. ha ha!
But she’s a powerful girl, so I’m a-ok with that. I love seeing strong female characters in TV shows, movies, whatever.

Jane Seymour was/is gorgeous isn’t she? I think she has her own line of “relabeled” skin care on HSN. My grandmom is an HSN fanatic, so I’ll have to ask her. 😉

Starbuck is a GIRL now???? 😯 Noooo waaaay. Does Dirk Benedict know about that??! LOL Well, yeah, the powerful chick thing *is* cool, most definitely. But geez…. Starbuck is a GIRL now? Whoa. I hope the role works. I suppose if you’ve never seen the old version, the female Starbuck doesn’t mean a thing. I just can’t see how they could dispense of the older funky character. He was so unique. It’s like they changed the packaging and the formula on my favorite mascara, and not only can I not find it easily, it just doesn’t work as well as it used to. *sigh* But I digress…. 🙂

Yeah, Jane Seymour has always been gorgeous. What an awesome actress too, of course! Dr. Quinn was fab as well. I can’t afford her “relabeled” stuff right now, but would love to hear about it, anyway, if you find out. Btw, sorry — what IS “relabeled”? Did she just put her name on an already-existing line, with the company then re-launching it?

I’ve only watched about 3/4 of the first disk in the set, so I am not too sure about all the characters yet. Boomer is a girl too. I really like her character though. I guess this version is “BG ‘reimagined'”. So it’s similar to the old, but also with mixes of a whole new reality. Then there’s Caprica that I mentioned. That just started on SyFy 2 weeks ago (I think you can watch them on their website)… 2 eps in. It’s the “prequel” to BG. Basically, how the Cylon’s started and why. I’m loving it so far!

Relabeled is my term for when a celeb launches a skin care line and puts her name on it. They make you think it’s ALL their’s. But in reality, it’s some other manufacturer (sometimes major) and just a bottle with a celeb’s name on it. Sometimes (often) they are the exact same as other products. So they basically purchase the rights to have their name appear. Other people call it “private label”. Like I could get a company to throw some Bionic Beauty stickers on a lip balm and call it my own. Or I could do something honest & true, and actually formulate it and then oversee the production, etc. Which would be more work, but imo, more “honest” (not quite the right word, but knowing you, how you know me, you’ll get my drift…). So in short, I’ll add her product line to my “to be researched” list and see if I can trace it back. Then maybe we can find something the same or darn similar for less money. 😀

Ok, I’m off to focus on my “Best of Beauty for 2009” article. Got the finalists all listed, just need to add the photos, create a collage, and list *why* I wuved them so much. Woot!
