My personal favorites are Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear mascara (yeah, I know… you all have heard me talk about this mascara endlessly- but I *really* do LOVE it!), Me by Mezhgan’s Look at Me tubing mascara and Blinc mascara (another tubing mascara that I’ll be reviewing soon!).
Your turn!

I’m a big fan of Clinique’s Natural Gloss. It only comes in black, but it’s shiny and not too thick, so it doesn’t clump up or look odd. I just wish it was cheaper!
Maybelline Great Lash. I always go back to this classic.
Blinc, of course! I like the lack of flaking, and gives my lashes a more natural look. Besides, I still crack up when I wash it off. So weird….
I will go with Maybelline great lash too. I guess it is just what I am used to but I would like to try something different, just hate to spend the money on a product I have never used and not knowing if it will work well or not.
I will have to try the Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear mascara that you love so much. I am ready for a change.
My favorite, and the one I make sure I always have, is the Maybelline Great Lash. I have used it for years and year. I guess I am used to the applicator brush! I try new mascaras quite often, but none compare to my MGL.
Max Factor used to make a good one, forgot the name exactly, but now I’ve heard Max is not going to be sold in the US anymore–they are going out of business or something? Has anyone else heard this?
Hi Molly, First off, Welcome to Bionic Beauty!!
Thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts on Great Lash. So glad you’ve found a mascara you love!
As for Max Factor, they aren’t going out of business, but they will be pulling out of the US by the end of 2010. So we’ve still got time to stock up on some items. Personally, I really love their highlighting mascaras- the ones that are a base color like black, and the other end is a bright color that you apply to the tips. So FUN!
Hope to see you around Bionic Beauty!
Cheers,
Jami (BB)
Cheap Chick, That was my mom’s favorite too!
Robyn, I’m loving the Blinc and I can’t believe this… but actually contemplating spending the 25 buckaroos on a mascara. Craziness, right???
Jessica and Kristi, I wore the pink n’ green Maybelline Great Lash in high school and then tried it again a few years ago (I have a review on here somewhere). It just didn’t work for me. The brush gave me clumps & it flaked. And the next day I ended up with blood spots on my eyes. I was like one of those zombie movies for a week. Just further proof that mascara is an individual preference, I guess. I really stand behind the Phys Formula Mineral Wear though (*not* the Organic Wear one, ick!). It’s about $6-7 at the drugstore and I stock up.
I used to be a Blinc user for many moons but then I made the switch to L’oreal’s Double Extend. Same idea as Blinc but costs less. I love how long and full my lashes look with this product.
Kelley – do you have any problem with the L’Oreal drying out your lashes? It did mine horribly – bad enough that I couldn’t wait for the end of the day to remove it. I did a comparison of the two on a blog post here.
Any of the Physician’s Formula mascaras make me happy. Love ‘em! You were the one who got me addicted, J, so thanks!
Cover Girl Lash Blast. I’ve tried a TON in the lat year and I always go back to that…
Robyn- Nope- no problem at all with L’oreal drying out my lashes. I’ve been using it for a little while now and haven’t noticed any issues with dryness.
I’m loving covergirl’s eyelights for blue eyes. Has a great texture and brush and the color really does make my blues eyes pop.
i love lash stiletto it work like a dream
Nenette, Yeah for PF’s mascaras! I love ‘em. Have you tried their Lash in a Tube? WONDERFUL!! Makes my lashes bump into my glasses.
Mindy, I haven’t tried the Eyelights for blue eyes, but I did get the one for brown. I didn’t see any “bling”.
Mo, I got the Lash Blast Luxe. I think that’s the waterproof variety. Not too bad… although I wanted a bit more volume. I have sparse lashes and it didn’t “plump” enough for me. But I loved the brush!!
Priia/Kelly, The L’Oreal Double Extend is my next tubing mascara to try. I hope it works for me since it’s so much cheaper than the Blinc. I’ve heard pretty much a 50/50 split of people liking it better than Blinc, or not liking it. Glad to hear yours and Robyn’s thoughts!
Danni, Thanks for sharing and Welcome to Bionic Beauty! I hope to see you around here more often. Does the Lash Stiletto have a plastic/rubber brush or is the classic style?
Cheers,
Bionic Beauty
Good ol’ Maybelline Great Lash- But lately, I’ve gotten a strong urge to re-vamp my make-up menu. Any suggestions? I need something to help with length ,more than thickness. Have a good one.
Yvonne
Hi Yvonne, I’ve never had good luck with the Great Lash as I mentioned above. So I envy you there. My absolute favorite mascara of all time (even after trying the super expensive ones) is Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear mascara. Nenette for LifeCandy is hooked on it now too. Major love from me. It doesn’t flake or smudge and it literally makes my stubby lashes bump my glasses lens!
Also, try out L’Oreal Double Extend (Paula mentioned it above)- it’s one of the new tubing mascaras. Those give length without much volume. Some people don’t like them because they can give you a spidery lash look. I haven’t tried the L’Oreal version yet, but I do have the Blinc version (bit more pricey, find it at PurelyCosmetics.com). I also love it. And taking it off at night is a blast. I use water & a washcloth and the tubes pull off your lashes like little socks. It makes me laugh every night.
Another tubing mascara that I like is Me by Mezhgan’s Look at Me. It’s a lesser known “indie” brand. Packaging is super cute and the product is very nice as well!
I hope this helps. I have tons more suggestions (and “don’t tries” too, hee!). Have a great weekend!
Jami
What is “tubing mascara”??
I’ve never heard of it. Thanks!
I’ve tried numerous mascaras over the years, with Maybelline’s Great Lash (pink & black tube, waterproof version) being a repeat visitor. I’m not crazy about it, but it’s cheap, and works fine for the look I want. Not clumpy and flaky. I’ve tried Almay’s One Coat mascaras, but they always clump. My new favorite is Cover Girl’s Volume Exact (waterproof). The brush is quite odd, but seems to work great. The brush is a flexible, rubbery straight applicator, and I can easily reach almost every lash, and apply more coats if I want to. It wears smoothly and well, and doesn’t adversely affect my eyes.
I have been trying to find the right mascara for a decent price. I use Maybelline but it makes my lashes fall! The best I ever used was Dial-A-Lash and they discontinued it. Help if anyone can tell me of a good one that will keep those lashes up!
