Bionic Beauty Asks - Makeup and beauty question blog article series

This week’s Bionic Asks Are you dressing up for Halloween? And if so, what’s your costume? Are you pairing it with a special makeup look? Going to a party or just handing out candy? And if you’re not dressing up this year, feel free to share your favorite costume from the past! You can even leave a link to a photo, if you’d like.

For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you may have seen me discuss my costume plans way back in May. Yes, I start early. I’m dressing up as Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil video games (she was in the movie too, but I’m doing the game version because, well, she wears more clothing).

I’m sticking with very basic makeup since I’m portraying a military-style gal (light brown eye shadow, mascara, nude lipstick). I made a beret, painted patches for it and my shirt, used my granddad’s suspenders, cut up some fingerless gloves, and found some cheap (8 bucks!) blue cargo pants at Ross. I won’t be attending any parties, and may not even see any Trick-or-Treaters, but I certainly will be wearing my costume around the house!

What are your Halloween plans?

I am going to be a flapper girl this year. I am thinking I will go heavy on the eye make-up and wear a bright red lipstick. My husband is going to be a sinatra so we will look good together..

Jess, That’s an EXCELLENT pairing idea! I love Sinatra and I bet you’ll be be a gorgeous flapper!
Definitely lots of black eyeliner. Do you have the HIP Kohl liners? Those are what jumped to my mind. Maybe some shimmer on the brow bones & inner eye corners.
Great idea. Are you gonna twitter some pics? 🙂

I will get tweet some pics for sure! I ave not tried those liners, I will have to look for them. I am thnking very silvery for the eyes with smokey hints.

I like your idea for Halloween – very creative. And you MADE the beret–that’s great!

Thanks Adrian! I always try to think outside the “box” on my costumes. 🙂 And I love crafting the pieces myself. The beret was a bit challenging, I’ll admit. But I couldn’t find one that matched what I wanted exactly… so I kinda weaved my own!

Hey, Jami! 🙂 I’m probably not going to dress up and attend any Halloween parties. But it’s all good. Last year, it was SO fun handing out candy to the neighborhood kids. This one adorrrrrable little toddler girl, dressed as a princess, came up to my door as I opened it and said, “I’m HEEEERE!!” ROFL Ya gotta love an entusiastic kid! Her father, who was with her, and I grinned. What a precious child. It’s moments like those that make me glad I don’t have plans sometimes.

Please post pics! I love RE! I think Next year I want to do something along these lines!

This year I’m Lu Lu from Final Fantasy, cause I made my kids Moogles, I will post pics!

Kristinia, You definitely need to post pictures too!! I adore Final Fantasy! Who knew we had so many game-girl Bionic Beauties out there? 🙂

10 Tashi October 28, 2009 at 5:33 pm

P.S. Jami, I like your idea for your costume too. Have fun, even if you do stay at home on Halloween.

Tashi, I agree… handing out candy to the kids is actually one of my favorite parts of Halloween. Second only to the actual dressing up! If that little girl had done that at my door, I probably would’ve had to sit down from giggling so hard. HOW CUTE!!!

Have a great Halloween Eve! 😉

I have to say it again, you are such a geek– and I love it! I don’t find many women in our, ahem, age RANGE that can understand what we are talking about…

Oh and Kristinia, you HAVE to post some pics somehow, that is fabulous!

I went well beyond my budget this year for a theme. It will be a snow queen, but I am excited and nervous about the makeup. I have done a bit of a trial run and tried to get as much inspiration as I can, so wish me luck! I don’t know how to post pics but I will leave a link if that’s alright…

Lori, Aww shucks, thanks! 🙂 I agree with you. Some of even my guy friends look at me with these blank looks on their face… Oh well. I like puzzling everyone!!

I can’t wait to hear what makeup you use and what your costume looks like. I bet it’s super intricate! And yes, definitely post a link to your photos!!
Your fellow geek,

I am dressing as a Future Time-Lord Companion. Easy enough costume…

15 Bionic Beauty October 30, 2009 at 8:59 am

Muse, Are you a Dr. Who/Torchwood fan??? I’d love to be Capt Jack’s Time Lord Companion. ha ha! 🙂

16 Lori Slone October 31, 2009 at 9:49 pm

I love me some Capt. Jack. That man is too pretty!
I couldn’t care less how gay he is, he is beautiful and spunky!
