Here’s a quick roundup of news tidbits from Bionic-land…
Bionic Beauty Welcome’s Bionic Bronnie!
Bionic Beauty adds a new contributing editor, Bionic Bronnie.
Let’s face it. I needed some help. Bionic Beauty has grown incredibly this year (Yippee!) and in order to keep up the thorough testing schedule that I have promised (4-6 weeks for all skincare items, 1-2 weeks for hair care, 1 week for makeup), I either needed to clone myself or find another body to start testing products. And now… I introduce you to one of my wonderful gal pals, Bronnie! She’s already a very experienced product tester- with several years experience writing and sharing her thoughts.
I’m thrilled to have her as part of the Bionic Beauty family. Now you’ll get even more product reviews from an even more diverse background of brands! Keep an eye out from Bronnie’s articles (you can see our bylines just under each article title), and be sure to comment with any questions or your own personal experience!

The Full Monty… er, Disclosure
Next up… there’s some proposed legislation floating around the US government that aims to regulate bloggers who write product reviews.
Since Bionic Beauty clearly fits into that arena, I’ve been watching the progress carefully. I’m actually happy about the proposed regulation- it aims to hold bloggers liable for any false claims they make about products, and asks that they reveal products/services that are gifted to them, as well as monetary compensation for “paid for post articles”.
If you’re not a blogger, this may all sound like a foreign language, and I could blather on about being what I call an “ethical blogger” but it would take a huge article. In short, there are many bloggers who accept money or products in exchange for writing a positive review of that item, and other bloggers who just repeat the outlandish claims of a press release and have no experience with the product to back up those claims.
As the editor of Bionic Beauty, I do get some products sent to me for review. However, I *never* accept money for a review; and just because I got a product for free doesn’t mean I’ll write a positive review of it (heck, you’ll find loads of poor reviews on here!). I’m always fair, and report my personal findings after a thorough test. And you ladies are always welcome to weigh in with your experience.
I also have a busy few weeks coming up. While many bloggers head up to New York Fashion Week (held earlier this month), I tend to pick beauty related expos and conferences. These types of events are perfect for learning about new trends in makeup and skin care, seeing the latest tech in beauty gadgetry, and seeking out fresh, new brands.
I’ll be attending The Artist Summit in Miami on October 3rd, and ISPA (International Spa Association) Conference and Expo in Austin, Texas from October 5th through the 8th. So expect lots of fun new brand introductions, and photographs from all the madness. I had some extra air miles to burn so these were pretty places to “get away” to, while bringing you some exclusive coverage!
While I’m gone, there will be the normal articles running here for your reading pleasure, but if you’d like to really stay in the loop- follow my updates on Twitter or just check my Twitter “widget” in the right sidebar of Bionic Beauty! Even if you aren’t a member of Twitter, you can watch my Twitter stream for the latest news. I’ll be twitteirng pictures, meetings, and new exclusive product introductions… I know Clarisonic is introducing a secret product at ISPA this year!
Unrelated to beauty, my dog (the Amazing Woo) and I will be attending, and volunteering, at the Pet Expo in Charleston, SC. The Expo is on Saturday September 26, so if you’re in the area stop by. I’d love to meet you!
