Bionic Boondoggle from Miami

by Bionic Beauty on 07.Dec.2008 · 5 comments

Coming to you from my Grandmom’s house in sunny and warm Miami, Florida. We’re just down for a long weekend to visit my family and partake in some delightful Cuban food. I can’t wait to have some yucca and plantains tonight!

This week’s Boondoggle has some of my favorite links, a quote that seemed appropriate for all us gals, and my own list of happy things.

Be sure to enter the My Lip Stuff giveaway over at Mythbuster Beauty! Have you tried My Lip Stuff’s balms yet? If not, you’re in for a treat. Over 400 varieties (!!!) and you can read my review if you’d like.

The Cheap Chick employs her wonderous humor and attitude to give us a review of L’Oreal’s new Bare Naturale mascara.

Luxe Tips has a HOT drugstore body wash find for you. I’ve seen this body wash at some of my local grocery stores too, and have been longing to try it.

Kelly at Massage Therapy Careers came up with a list of 50 (yes, 50!) health and beauty products that you can make at home. Talk about a splendid way to save some bucks this holiday season!

Quote of the Week:
“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.” ~Ashley Smith

Things that made me smile this week:
Seeing my Grandmom after being away for so long; watching one of the Doctor’s at Mayo react to my newly purple hair (Oh! Wow!) when he walked in the room; old style coffee percolators; finding a pair of designer jeans in my size at the local thrift store for $2 (and they still had the original tags on them!); modifying my Bionic Beauty T shirt into a one-of-a-kind style (see me modeling my new creation & my thrifty jeans find below); and listening to the all female string group, Bond, while driving (best driving music, ever).

Sweet! Love the pimped up shirt, J! 🙂
This week’s awesomeness for me:
1) moving some big pieces of furniture in my livingroom — gives the place a new cleaner energy — didn’t buy anything new, just moved a few big things, and it made all the difference. (I posted up pictures on my blog!)
2) hanging out with the other moms from my kids’ school for coffee on Wednesday. So much fun!
3) getting my swap gifts from Shai’s 52WoC: Gift Swap assignment.
4) finding my favourite book hidden under all the crap on my kitchen counter… thought I’d lost it outside of the house!
5) watching my son (and his choir) sing at his school’s Breakfast with Santa.
6) watching my daughter giggle while decorating her gingerbread house.

So fabulous BB! You look incredibly happy and I am loving your purple hair.

Would have paid some $$ to see the doctor’s face. Too bad it wasn’t Carlisle… I am going to check out Bond.

My happy moments this week?
1. Ordering Indian take out on Wednesday (my family adores Indian cuisine).
2. Having above normal temps and enjoying the sunshine.
3. Going to a breakfast with Santa at our Church and singing traditional Christmas carols with them.
4. Pulling off a successful birthday party for my second daughter, we went bowling!

My favorite post this week came from my friend Tracy’s blog:

Love the purple hair!
Things that made me happy this week:
1) my hair has looked awesome 2 days in a row
2) I found lipliner the exact shade of my lips, so I can make them look fuller without looking like a clown
3)It is warm and sunny outside today!

There is nothing like authentic and homemade Cuban food! Just finished an entire days worth of baking with my mother-in-law, we turned out some fabulous cookies for the holiday season that is quickly approaching. I picked up several new clients this week and quoted an enormous project that will make me very happy for the New Year!
