Bionic Boondoggle: Live from Spring Training

by Bionic Beauty on 09.Mar.2009 · 10 comments

I’m a day late in posting this… my weekend got a little busy. The Bionic-sister was in town and we did some gardening, movie watching and nail painting. I, of course, sent her home with a ton of shampoos, lotions, and other “essentials”.

I was also at the Washington Nationals Spring Training game this week! Lots of fun in the sun… but I was covered head to toe in zinc sunblock. Gotta protect my paleness. 😉 What did you do over the weekend?

My favorite articles from this week:

Kelley from the Mineral Makeup Coach blog (and founder of PRIIA Cosmetics) wrote an amazing article: “Teens, Dairy Products and Acne- Is there a connection?”  While it says teens, the information contained in the article is handy for anyone who suffers from occasional or regular breakouts.

Sarah is a lucky duck. She has this store called Bath Junkie close to here where they let you mix your own fragrances for your bath products, make it your own color (everything can match your tile now! tee hee!) and then the store employees add the necessary ingredients for what you chose. So everything’s pretty, scented and super fresh. Darn it… I want one!

Jen from Mythbuster Beauty was featured on We Heart This. Congrats Jen! Be sure to read the interview with her… even I learned some new tips, and facts about Jen.

Decorative Diva did a super cool manicure and pedicure over the weekend. Love the colors! I’ll be trying something similar on my hands this week.

Very special sales worth noting…

  • Loose Lips NY is holding a March Madness special (see, it’s a sports theme this weekend on Bionic Beauty!) use code marchmad20 for 20% all orders the month of March.
  • $2 shipping at e.l.f. Cosmeticself cosmetics with coupon code SHIPTWO (on orders of $20 or more). Woo hoo!
  • Eeek! My favorite mineral makeup line, Purely Cosmetics has their foundations on sale ($18 instead of the normal $22)! And… there’s a very cool flat-top synthetic Kabuki brush which is $20 ($5 off) and perfect for all of us moving to synthetic or taklon brushes. Ok, ladies, I’m off to stock up on my California Blonde foundation!

Did any articles catch your eye this week? Special quotes or songs or photos that inspired you? Share your loves in the comments!

my question is of a different sort of beauty…..natural talents.

my brother has a very natural talent for baseball and was home schooled, so he didn’t have the same exposure as high school baseball players at getting recruited.

does anyone know/have advice on making connections in baseball and getting into a training program to be seen by recruiters/trainers?????????????

your answer(s) would be so valuable to us……he is very blessed with skill and a passion for the sport………email me any info please (or advice) webleane AT yahoo DOTcom

natural (man) beauty!

Yay for Purely Cosmetics! Just wanted to let you all know that their Face/Foundation kit is also on sale — I just started using this line, and my kit included foundation, primer, blush and two brushes… for 56! There are lots of choices too:).

That Bath Junkie store sound pretty cool, but if you don’t have one in your area, you could always try and post a custom request to get the smell/color of your choice. You wouldn’t be able to pick a scent by smelling it and you’d have to pay shipping, but I bet it would even be cheaper than going to the store. Etsy people can be really well priced

Wow, I made it to the Bionic Boondoggle!! Awesome, thank you so much Jami!

Btw, I’m loving the Decorative Diva’s blog, big thanks for showing me another great one!

HA! There’s a Bath Junkei in Bainbridge Island! Not exactly “near” me, but near where we’re headed on vacation! Boo-yah! I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures to rub in your face, I mean, show you…

Leane, I hope someone can help you and your brother out. Let us know how the search goes!

Liz, I’m happy to hear from another Purely Cosmetics fan!! I’ve test a LOT of foundations, minerals, tinted moisturizers and PC beats them all by far in my opinion. Woo hoo!

Holly, SUPERB idea on posting on Etsy! I keep meaning to do that since I really want a sterling silver mood ring but can’t find one anywhere.

Sarah, Yep, you sure did! Keep up the fab work, girl!

Mo, You lucky lucky duckling! You better take lots of pics. Maybe I can pretend I went and photoshop myself into one. 😉 Have fun on your trip chica!

So many great deals here, big fan of LooseLipsNY and Purely Cosmetics! And you look so warm and happy standing at the ball park.

Thank you for the mention BB, big hugs!

Jen, You’re welcome! And, I was warm. Almost too warm. It was actually HOT here today. My computer showed 79 degrees and “feels like 90”. I keep thinking it’s July and getting all confuddled. 😉

I’m a little late on posting this (sorry girl) but I just wanted to thank you for the mention about my article on Teens, Dairy & Acne!
