Er, I need to correct something I said: I mentioned Dalton brow color. I meant to say that what I had was Dalton Brow Fix. It's a tinted long-wearing brow gel (I got brunette). I hate it when I accidentally speak a boo-boo. :-)

Btw, Jami, thanks for writing the emoticon, 8-O. Honestly, I'd never seen it before you used it. I laughed like a silly girl when I first saw it in your post. Thanks for the hee-hees! :-D

Oooh, yeah... Yes, that one applicator tube DOES look like a Medieval weapon! I once got a sample of a mascara, the brand I forget. The applicator was SO stiff and harsh, that I tossed it after only one or two uses. I see your point in being able to view the applicators, as you consider what to buy. Makes sense to me now. :-) Don't know why I didn't get it before.

Kathleen, My main reason for wanting to see the brush that comes with a mascara is all the surprises lately. I opened a L'Oreal one the other day and went "WTH?!?" It's that one with the round ball with spikes all over it. Looks like one of those medieval club weapons.
Then I opened my new Clinique mascara yesterday and instead of a normalish brush, there was this curved green scythe looking applicator. What's with the weapon-themed mascara applicators?!? LOL!

I usually like those nice soft rubbery ones, like the one my favorite mascara comes with- Physician's Formula Mineral Wear. They don't poke me in the eye or cause clumps like normal "brush" applicators.

So I guess I like to know what I'm trying, rather that standing there in my bathroom going WTH?!? all open-mouthed... 8-O
ha ha... I probably should've photographed it.

I was just about to mention Chapstick, but you beat me to the punch, Jami. :-) I learned that tip eons ago, on a now defunct local talk show. I still occasionally use plain Chapstick on my brows, very sparingly. But I've never tried mixing any colors. I bought Dalton brow color from QVC last year and love it. I'm not sure if it would mix well with Chapstick, clear mascara, or anything else. I'm 41, and have noticed that my brows have thinned a little, and have grayed or faded just a teensy. I'm just glad I still *have* eyebrows. :-)

I confess, I don't understand how packaging the mascara wands next to the tube benefits us. However, maybe I just need more coffee today in order to "get" it. LOL

Thanks Bronnie. I've tried several higher end brow gels and really don't see any benefit to the increased cost. They are usually stiffer and crunchy- so if you need strong hold, that's the way to go. But for everyday, normal hold for brows, the clear mascaras, or even a bit of clear lip balm (Chapstick), works wonders. :)

I noticed that new packaging on mascaras. I guess it's so we can visual the brush better, and like you said, we can mix and match now. Which is always nice!

What a genious you are Jami!

That is a great idea...I can never find the rigt color..too brown or too red and my brow's look funny.

Cheap set aside, what do you think is the best brow gel perfomance wise? I don't like hard, crunchy or stiff, but natural to medium last all day stuff?

I've noticed Neutrogena and Cover Girl mascara's have started coming with lid's and the wand packed separate. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this...the applicator's all work in different way's so I am finally able to choose the applicator and customize it with my mascara of the day!
