Random Beauty News: Odd Pedis, Hair Color Adventures and more
Today I’ve got a little random roundup of news in my life, from TV and an odd new trend in pedicures…
The big celeb buzz for the day: Actress Kiera Knightley is standing up to her movie company and just saying no to aftermarket cleavage enhancement. What I mean is, since she’s a flatter chested girl (hey, I’m pretty darn small too, but I just look at it as mine don’t get in the way of my activities. It’s all about spin, right?
), the studio wanted to amp up her chest in promotion pictures for the upcoming movie. She’s standing firm and saying she’s proud of her lack-of-rack. I’m with her. Be proud of what you got, girl!
Next up on today’s news from moi: Since moving to the hot, humid and yes, incredibly sunny Florida last month, my brunette locks have been bleaching so quickly even with strict use of UV blockers. I admit to not wearing a hat constantly because they make me hot! But in any case, I figured I would lighten my hair back to more of my natural color (dark blonde, light brunette). So armed with my trusty bottle of haircolor and developer from Sally’s Beauty Supply, I went at it.
After rinsing and conditioning, nada. Same color as before. I guess my hair is happy the color it is? At least I got my grays covered back up.
And lastly for this odd little news roundup… an online buddy made me aware of the new phenomenon, the “Fish Pedicure”. What do you think? Would you do this?
Me? Count me out. I’m sure the little Tetra fish flakes are much more nutritious for the fishies than my dead foot skin cells (ick).

Who made the most bionical comments over the past year?
Bionic Beauty readers Kate, Jen, Nenette, Joyce and Suzann all came in tops in quantity and quality. By the way, since it’s not a competition, I listed them in no particular order.
Thanks ladies for sharing your thoughts, ideas and tips here on Bionic Beauty. I truly appreciate each comment I receive and love it when I notice a new reader and commenter has joined our ranks.
Here’s to another great year!

Spotlight on Bionic Readers: Comments from the Year

As you all know, Bionic Beauty is one year old. Thinking back on the year, I’ve had some fantastic comments roll through this blog. Here are a few of the standouts…
AJ, the owner/manager from Kissable Couture lip glosses (and he’s also a famous makeup artist) commented here at Bionic Beauty after several of us had been discussing his high-end lippies:
Hey ladies!!! I am so glad I found this. Kissable Couture is Amazing!!! Not only are the shades great for all complexions but IT’S NOT STICKY. The glosses are very hydrating and moisturizing. They won’t leave your lips with that awful residue in the corners (you know what I’m talking about) of your mouth. And it will not make your lips peel… We really took alot of time with the formula to make sure it was really great!! I work with girls who like to whip their hair on stage and in videos and I can’t have their hair stuck to their lips.. Kissable Couture is truly luxury for your lips…!!! Thanks ladies!
Allie shared her Nightly Skincare Regimen with us:
First, can i say that I have a ton of great freebies of skin and haircare in my linen closet because of your posts? Thank you, can’t wait to play with them all!
As for me, I was my face with Neutrogena, the blue stuff that is a makeup remover and wash in one (think it’s the oil free wash?). It really gets everything off, including waterproof liquid liner and mascara.
Toner is Body Shop’s Moisture White toner because… well because I got it for free
Then I use the Neutrogena Eye Brightening eye cream, The Clean and Clear acne treatment (the one that states it is 99% effective) on spots, and then the grocery store’s version of the Olay Regenerist night cream.
In winter I don’t exfoliate often, just once a week with a Body Shop Vitamin C polisher product that is exfoliant and wash in one. In summer, I scrub more
I tried the fancy stuff and found that products like Neutrogena were gentler to my skin and I saw better results!
Jacqueline shares the same loves as Bionic Beauty in her mascara choices:
i’ve tried all of those mascaras and got the same EXACT reaction! physician’s formula is also my favorite ![]()
if you ever find a better one… i’ll race to the store to get it =D
Jen from Mythbuster Beauty and Sherry from Loose Lips NY, share their Favorite Products from 2007 in our annual roundup:
Jen’s-
Suki’s Lemongrass Cleanser- Just a little jar of organic lemon love. The sugar gives a great scrub and then foams into a very gentle cleanser. Natural AHA’s exfoliate gently and doesn’t overstrip your skin. My absolute fav skincare item for 2007.
Maven Visage Mirage Foundation - I just discovered this one and cannot stop talking about it. Liquid mineral makeup foundation, blends in with my skin beautifully, melts into your skin, natural feel and buildable coverage!
WOW! 5 stars*****
Sherry’s-
I don’t want to toot my own horn- but I just love our Black Cherry Gel Liner at Loose Lips New York. I keep playing around with other colors, and go back to this. I also love OPI nail polish in St. Petersburgandy.
Nenette, Suzann, Raffaela, BBC and I all chat about the Sex and the City movie.
Jenna seconds the tip of adding conditioner to your hair before swimming and asked for advice on her summer frizzies:
Growing up — I practically lived at the swimming pool. I remember my mom always made us put conditioner in our hair during break-time. : ]
Anyways though, I’ve been having some trouble lately with frizz. It’s so humid outside - I can not seem to figure out a good way to tame my hair! Any suggestions?
