Bionic Asks - Makeup and beauty question serie

This week’s Bionic AsksWhat are your favorite hair styling products?

Currently my favorites are L’Oreal EverPure Sulfate Free UV leave-in spray, John Frieda’s Root Awakening conditioning spray, White Sands’ The Cure (I’ll be posting my full review after I have finished the long-term testing on this product), White Sands’ Porosity The Fix (my review), AG Hair Cosmetics Split End Spa (here’s my review), and good old fashioned Jojoba Oil. And don’t forget there are a ton of ways to use Jojoba for your hair care ritual.

As you can tell, I’m not big on “style holding” products- instead I focus on making sure there’s enough light moisture in my hair to lock out humidity and keep dryness and frizzies at bay.

So, what are your favorites?

Split with your split ends

Split End Spa hair repair serum from AG CosmeticsAG Hair Cosmetics is one of my favorite hair care “luxury” brands. I love the performance and the fact that the owner’s started this company as an itty bitty upstart in the basement of their Vancouver, BC home. It gives us little entrepreneurs hope, right?

Anyhow, AG has a BRAND NEW release, Split End Spa hair repair serum, and they sent it to me for thorough and complete Bionic Beauty testing!

As my regular readers can tell from my photographs, I change my hair color frequently. Actually the word frequently probably doesn’t even cover it. To help with all that abuse, I use the best products I can (whether they are salon or the fab finds at the drugstore), air dry when possible and use leave-in conditioners every single day. I also use a UVA/UVB sunblock spray when I’m outside and cover up with a hat. But still, my locks can lock a bit french-fried on the ends.

AG’s new Split End Spa is a miracle hair serum for me. It comes in a nifty little pump bottle (I love pumps since they are sanitary and less likely to spill), that dispenses a perfect small dollop of serum. Since the ends of my hair by my face are the most damaged that’s where I concentrate the application. Rub between palms and then glide fingers over damaged areas. If I need a little extra coverage, I put more on my fingertips and pull through the specific strands. AG’s instructions say to use on damp hair, but I’ve had fine success using it after my hair has air dried as well.

Split End Spa serum has the perfect amount of “slip” to really glide over your hair, lock down the cuticle, and make my hair look intensely sleek.  No longer will people look over and think “Jeez girl, you need conditioner!”

I’m one happy Bionic!

Don’t miss my previous reviews of AG’s products. Their Color Savour shampoo & conditioner is a regular in my shower… and now actress Frieda Pinto is now singing it’s praises (she must’ve heard about it here, right? Hey, I can wish.

Bionic Asks - Makeup and beauty question seriesShower stalls have all sorts of shelves, hanging ability, nooks and crannies to stow body care goodies.
Shampoos, conditioners, body washes, soap bars… oh my!

Wanna peak in Bionic’s shower? Here’s my stash…

  • Dove Cream Oil Body Wash (very moisturizing shower gel which I use in the winter to prevent dry skin. Get a free sample from Dove!)
  • International Orange “Cleanse” body wash (yummy! my review)
  • Body poufs for all over exfoliation
  • Body brush for skin brushing and scrubbing my back
  • Jojoba shampoo bar by Herbaria Soaps (Y’all know I seriously heart Herbaria. I use it for my body, face and occasionally my hair. I love the soft bubbles and that it’s all-natural, baby!)
  • Y-Y Ocean: Exfoliating body scrub (this is an amazing body polish. I use it when I’m going to wear a dress, sleeveless shirt, or a swimsuit. Smooth skin instantly!)
  • Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut shampoo and conditioner (great scent for a winter pick-me-up! Did you read my shampoo classified ad?)
  • AG Hair Cosmetics Colour Savour shampoo and conditioner (it’s sulfate free & gentle so perfect for my colored hair. Read my previous review. )
  • Davine’s Alchemic shampoo and conditioner for brown hair (nicely moisturizing and natural. It’s great to help make my color last longer! But be careful cause it’s packed in glass bottles…here’s my review.)
  • ER Fusion reconstructing hair treatment by White Sands (I use this at least once a week for a deep conditioning treatment. It works fab!)
  • Noxema face wash
  • Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash cream cleanser
  • Venus Vibrance razor in pink
  • Skintimate Energizing Citrus shave cream

So hop on over to your shower with a note pad, jot down your findings and report back with what you’re using during shower time.

AG Color Savour Hair Care

by Bionic Beauty on 11.Jul.2008 · 7 comments

AG Hair Cosmetics Color Savour Shampoo and ConditionerI’ve dedicated my locks to science. Well, not quite, but I did test another hair care line. AG Hair Cosmetics is a high quality, salon line with styling products, shampoos, conditioners, treatments. Everything you need to feed and care for your hair.

Since I’m a color-treated girl, I’m reviewing the Color Savour Shampoo and Conditioner. The shampoo is Sulfate-free, but produces incredible foam. It’s lightly scented, not floral, not fruity, but clean. The shampoo rinses easily. I followed with the creamy conditioner on hair ends only (since I’m a bit oiler in the humid summer months). I usually let conditioner set for 2 minutes while I was my face. The conditioner rinsed quickly and removed the shower tangles.

Next day report: My hair was manageable and it actually didn’t get all bendy on me. Translation- I didn’t end up with portions of my hair “bent” and other portions straight. All my tresses were straight and normal with a TON of bounce! My scalp was clean, no buildup. I really loved this AG line.

Two Week Report: The Color Savour certainly seemed to help hold my color longer even though I’ve been in the pool, and working in the garden. I’m hooked.

Other Products from AG I Adore: BigWigg is a spray in volumizer. I use it before blow drying and it gives my fine hair a big oomph in the volume department without stickiness or stiffness. And Spray Varnish is a splendid high-shine treatment. Just 3 sprays around my head and my hair glows!
