Big Makeup Sale At Walgreens!

If you’re close to a Walgreens store and looking for a good buy, I’ve got some for you. I was just in our local store this morning and spotted all L’Oreal HIP makeup at Buy One Get One Free. The gel eyeliners were certainly calling my name until I spotted Jane’s new gel eyeliners at 2 for $5.99! So they hopped into my shopping basket. I also spotted large giftsets of Physicians Formula Organic Wear cosmetics (3 items per gift set); markdowns on the latest Sally Hansen “brights” nail polishes and literally tons of Buy One Get One Free labels.

At check out I got an extra bonus- a whole gift bag filled with teeny samples (Neutrogena eyeshadows, Garnier skincare, Eucerin lotion) and coupons galore! To check your local Walgreens sale flyer, enter your ZIP code on their sale finder page.

Can you tell I was just a tad excited? With only grabbing two eyeliners, I am pretty darn proud of myself for not blowing my budget. :)

Happy Shopping, Bionic Beauties!

L’Oreal Skin Genesis Freebie!

Free sample of Loreal skin genesisWalmart.com is offering a free sample of L’Oreal Skin Genesis. Hurry, supplies are limited. This sample promotion is not available in stores and is only open to the USA (sorry, international readers!).

Here’s a little background on the Skin Genesis line:

Formulated to work together or alone, every Skin Genesis product penetrates deep within skin’s surface to give you tighter, brighter, younger-looking skin. When combined, the Serum Concentrate and SPF 15 Lotion deliver the strongest results. In just 8 weeks, proven results show a significant improvement in skin’s appearance:
81% of women saw younger-looking skin
65% of women felt their skin appeared younger
60% of women saw brighter, more luminous skin

I’m not making any guarantees on the claims listed above, but I can say it worked relatively well for me. Sensitive skin types should be careful with these products though. I would recommend getting a sample before buying an entire bottle. I experienced a bit of a breakout and other Bionic Beauty readers have reported burning, redness, breakouts and itchiness. Read Bionic Beauty’s review of L’Oreal Skin Genesis.

Stay tuned for three Friday Freebies, including two for international readers!

Cream Eyeshadows: L’Oreal’s New HIP Paints and Revlon’s

L’Oreals HIP (High Intensity Pigment) line has released a new offering: Cream Paints eyeshadows. Some people are having a hard time locating the new tubes (similar to MAC’s paints), but I found a few at my local drugstore (and for $2 off). They retail around $11.50 for a tube and currently come in 5 shades of browns/neutrals. I picked up Lofty (a light peach shimmer), and Nervy (a dark smoky brown shimmer).
Swatches of HIP paints

Lofty makes a grand base/primer for under your other eyeshadows or stand-alone color for quick natural days. Nervy is perfect for evening or creating a brown smokey eye. Both apply very easily and are highly pigmented (warning- use only a dab). I found the brush that was packaged with the paints lacking, but the paints go on easily with your finger or a concealer-type brush. As for wearability, there was no creasing and they dried quickly, and retained color through the day. Besides the included brush, my other complaint is that the tubes seem to seep a jelly-like substance if you do not store them upright. I guess it’s a small price to pay though.

Revlon Cream and Loreal HIP Paint Eyeshadows

If you have a hard time finding the HIP Cream Paint shadows, I found a duplicate in my existing collection. Revlon’s Creme Shadow quad in Not Just Nudes contains four very workable shades of browns ranging from a dark brown (similar to L’Oreals Nervy) to a cream off-white highlighter. This quad has been in my makeup case for 6 months (and I had another before that). I find the shadows to be long wearing, non-greasy, and not prone to creasing.

Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow, 4 Shades, Not Just NudesRevlon at Drugstore.com is on sale for $5.39!!

Look of the Day: Going Green

Mythbuster Beauty’s post on “Color Intervention 101” inspired me to try out a broader range of eyeshadow colors beyond my standard browns. During my latest trip to the local drugstore, I saw an ad board for Revlon’s new limited edition makeup “Reveal Your Wild Side“. I loved the green eyeshadow look shown on the boards (I can’t find a photo of it anywhere on the web, sorry!), checked the colors they used, and made a mental image for me to work from.

Here is my version. I’m “Going Green”.

The makeup I used:
Makeup used for Green eyeshadow look of the day

  • Milani Runway Eyes palette in Glamorous Gems.
  • Milani single eyeshadow in Antique Gold.
  • L’Oreal HiP Cream Shadow Paint in 809, Lofty (in the silver/pink tube).
  • Milani Eye Pencil liner in Antique Green.
  • Revlon Marble-ous Match eye liner/shadow duo pencil in Made for Jade.
  • Milani Velvet Collection lipstick in Plush.

How I accomplished Going Green:

  1. I applied a small amount of L’Oreal Cream Shadow Paint (similar to MAC’s Paint Pots) in Lofty to my entire lid and blended it up towards my brow. This color provides a nice neutral base for my eyeshadow.
  2. Note: The HiP Cream Shadow Paints are not yet out in all drugstores, but I have had good luck at Walgreens and CVS. They are absolutely gorgeous, apply well, and stay put! You can get them for $2 off at Walgreens from now through February 28th if you use their coupon in the Super Saver catalog (in Walgreens stores).
  3. Then I applied the Milani single eyeshadow in Antique Gold to my lid and into the crease.
  4. I smudged some of the Antique Gold shadow under my lower lash line as well.
  5. In the outer corner (the “V”) of my eyelid, I applied the darkest green from the Runway Eyes palette.
  6. Then I blended, blended and blended my lid.
  7. I lined over the shadow on my lower lash line with the Milani liner in Antique Green.
  8. And I applied a thick line of the Revlon Made for Jade eyeliner (the green and brown marbled end) on my top lash line.
  9. I choose the Plush lipstick by Milani to coordinate with this look. It’s subdued and the gold flecks in the lipstick perfectly complete the “safari” look.
  10. A coat of your favorite mascara, top and bottom, and your finished!

I surprised myself by loving this green look so much. I couldn’t stop walking by the mirror to look at my eyes!

New Lipstick Haul

On my latest trip to the local drugstore, I couldn’t help grabbing up a few new lipsticks. I’m really not sure why, since I hardly ever wear lipstick, but anyhow… I am here to share my new colors. And I even branched out a bit by purchasing a pink, a berry and a red (pats herself on the back). Read on for the swatches and photos!

Found! A Dupe for MAC’s Parrot

Bionic's Beauty Tips
Home Spa Goddess has found a very believable duplicate for MAC’s ultra-hot (and ultra-high-priced-on-eBay) eyeshadow, Parrot. And it’s none other than L’Oreal HiP eyeshadow duo in Showy #224. Visit her post to view the tutorial on a beautiful look with this shadow. I think she’s inspired me to try some color… even if I just wear it around the house!
