Found! A Dupe for MAC’s Parrot

Home Spa Goddess has found a very believable duplicate for MAC’s ultra-hot (and ultra-high-priced-on-eBay) eyeshadow, Parrot. And it’s none other than L’Oreal HiP eyeshadow duo in Showy #224. Visit her post to view the tutorial on a beautiful look with this shadow. I think she’s inspired me to try some color… even if I just wear it around the house!

Review: L’Oreal Skin Genesis Serum Concentrate
Product review for L’Oreal’s Skin Genesis facial Serum Concentrate. Bionic requested a sample back in August and I’ve been using the product each night for two weeks. The product recently won Allure Magazine’s Best of Beauty Awards for Breakthrough in Skin Care.
Skin Genesis has a light scent, not flowery or medicinal and should not bother most people. The serum is watery in texture (much more so than Garnier’s Nutritioniste) but applies smoothly and spreads easily. A little goes a long way making this product a cost-efficient purchase. The serum soaks into your skin exceptionally well!
Must say, I LOVE the packaging on this line. Very simple, clean, and with a spa-like feel. Excellent for a drugstore brand.
As for ingredients- the active ingredient is Pro-Xylane that is said to strengthen skin cells. However, if you have skin that is sensitive to breakouts, this product may not be for you. Glycerin is the second ingredient in the Serum Concentrate and a known culprit for cloggin’ your pores. The third ingredient is Alcohol which may not help those of us with dry skin (whether year-round or just the winter). If either of these two categories fit your skin, I would strongly suggest trying a sample first.
L’Oreal Skin Genesis Daily Treatment, Serum Concentrate can be found at Drugstore.com for $24.99. The product is sold in a 1.7 fl oz/50 ml pump.

Drink Your Way to Pretty
The internet has been a buzz that refreshment king- Coca-Cola and beauty queen- L’Oréal are partnering to create a yummy healthy beautiful beverage!
The working-name seems to be “Lumaé” (you know how fast these in-development names can change…). The drink is not set to launch until 2008, so we’ve got some time to wait.
Makeup is a “tea-based ready-to-drink beverage” is expected to contain ingredients that will help women care for their skin.
So, Bionic readers, think we can drink our way to beautiful?

Bionic’s Look: Amped Up Natural
Today I decided to amp up my standard natural makeup application with a bit more drama. Still suited for daytime, but with a little extra jazz.
The products I used:
Read on for details and the final look.
Cosmetics Used:
- Face: Everyday Minerals in Intensive Medium
- Blush: Sonia Kashuk in Shimmering Posy
- Brushes: by Sonia Kashuk (as pictured)
- Lips: L’Oreal Color Juice Stick in Mango Tango
- Eyes: Physician’s Formula eyeshadow quad in Metallic Canyon, Jane eyeshadow duo in Browny Points and Hazlenut.
- Eyeliner: Physician’s Formula Eye Definer in Ultra Black
- Lashes: Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Mascara in Ultra Black
Applied my normal mineral makeup foundation, followed by a light peachy blush on the front circles of cheeks.
Swept the light taupe color from the Physician’s Formula shadow quad onto my lid, into the crease, and slightly above the crease.
Applied the light shimmery color (Jane’s Hazlenut) across brow bone.
Then applied the dark matte Browny Points (by Jane) into the outer corner of my lid (I *love* this color by the way!).
BLEND WELL!
Then I lined my upper lash line with the Eye Definer in Black. It’s a standard pencil but twists up to keep the point semi-sharp. It’s a very smooth product and doesn’t pull your lids. Smudge the line very *slightly* by using a teeny brush and lightly swishing over the eyeliner.
Apply one coat of the Mineral Wear mascara.
Lips get one coat of Mango Tango and good to go. Mango Tango smells delicious and is nicely moisturizing.
Final look:

Estimated time: 10 minutes.
Everything is available at Target or your local drugstore with the exception of the Everyday Minerals.

L’Oreal Battles Faux Cosmetics & Perfumes
L’Oreal has initiated action against Ebay in five European companies for an ever-growing problem. L’Oreal’s cosmetics and perfumes have been faked and are being sold on the popular auction site. More…
“L’Oreal has been facing an increasing volume of illicit trade in fake fragrances and fake cosmetic products on some online auction sites,” the company said in a statement.
Overseas customers- beware as always when buying items on eBay. Be careful, watch for labeling, and ASK questions of the seller!

Review: L’Oreal Infallible Concealer
After a trial of L’Oreal’s Infallible foundation failed to shine, Bionic went into trying the concealer from the line with a different outlook.
However, this concealer actually is very functional! Packaging is a twist-up stick type foundation which can be applied direct from the stick, with a brush or finger tips. It has a nice, smooth texture and applied evenly.
The retail price for L’Oreal Infallible Concealer at Drugstore.com is $9.99 which is a relative bargain considering the department store concealer prices. With daily application under the eyes, this tube will probably last 4-6 months.
It worked well to cover skin imperfections when applied direct from the tube and then blended out with fingers. Be sure to set with powder or you will end up with creases.
Good buy!
