It’s always fun for me to look at other people’s Top-Rated or Best-of lists whether they are beauty related or not. Maybe it’s one of my odd quirks, but I enjoy comparing what I think should have made the list, and what items make me go “hmmm”. Total Beauty recently indulged my quirkiness by releasing their “Top-Rated Nail Polish” list…

I really have to disagree with some of their mentions. I like most all nail polish brands well-enough, especially if they have a unique color. However, Revlon coming in at seven was just bizarre to me. I always want to love their polish but every bottle I buy is too thick, and takes forever to dry… and yes, even if I apply a fast-dry topcoat it still takes forever and a day. I have tried thinning it too, but I really think nail polish formulas should come out ready-to-apply. I shouldn’t have to fiddle with a formula to make it work.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I’ve been sporting a “Pink Ribbon” manicure for the past few days.

Bionic’s Favorite Nail Polish: OPI DS Glamour

by Bionic Beauty on 30.Jul.2009 · 7 comments

Awhile back, I picked up a few of the OPI DS (Designer Series) nail polishes and swatched them for my readers. Somehow, I totally forgot to photograph my absolute favorite nail polish of all time… I even picked up a back up bottle.

Behold the blingy gorgeousness of OPI DS Glamour. It’s a medium denim blue that throws rainbows in the sun.

My favorite nail polish color, ever.

The bad part? I totally get distracted while wearing this polish. I constantly get lost in the hypnotizing sparkles of my nails.

Another bad part? It’s a bit hard to find this nail polish now, so keep your eyes peeled at your local beauty supply stores (I found mine on clearance at Trade Secret) or online (right now American Discount Beauty has it in stock for $12.25 a bottle).

Now my secret is out- you ladies know which polish I turn to when I want a pick-me-up. What’s your absolute favorite nail polish color?

The Extravagance of OPI DS nail polish

by Bionic Beauty on 25.Apr.2009 · 21 comments

I am really loving the OPI Designer Series (DS) nail polishes. Yes, they have been out for awhile now, but I waited until I saw them on sale at my local Trade Secret to start picking them up.

DS Extravagance is my favorite in the pink range. It’s more of a medium magenta. I do wish this polish had more of a holographic effect like Exclusive, but the self-colored and golden sparkles make me happy just the same.

As with the rest of the DS collection, OPI has made an amazing formula. There is absolutely NO grit. Application and removal is effortless. Although the polishes are dangerous… I can’t stop staring down at my nails!

If you’re more of a dark blue gal, don’t miss my article and photos of DS Fantasy!

A Fantasy manicure by OPI

I’m in major love with the OPI Designer Series (DS) nail polishes. Sparkly, shimmer, some holographic, it’s pure Bionic happiness!
Here’s my newest requisition- Fantasy. It’s a navy blue that always retains it’s blue, even in low light. The diamond dust particles in this polish aren’t as strong or “apparent” as they are in some of the other DS polishes, but I enjoy it for what it is. A festive blue for my fingers (or toes).

I’d highly recommend the OPI DS polishes. Especially if you can find them on discount (check online at or your local Trade Secret).

What do you think ladies?
