Organic Wear Finishing Veil Reviewed
Physician’s Formula Organic Wear has created quite a stir in the mass-market cosmetics industry. Organic cosmetics and makeup available to every consumer in your normal shopping centers!
When I purchased my Tinted Moisturizer, it can in a bonus pack with a full size Translucent Matte Finishing Veil for face. Finishing Veil’s are used over top of your standard makeup routine to set makeup, create a soft photo finish, and provide a little coverage for blemishes/skin tone with natural SPF (due to the minerals used).
While I have never given a Finishing Veil a shot (Bare Minerals, Ferro, and many other mineral companies offer quite a few choices), I was eager to try.
The Physician’s Formula version comes packaged with it’s own natural bristle brush and a tiny mirror on the lid. You lift off the clear lid and untwist the brush applicator. Underneath is a sifter jar. Tap out a bit of powder product and use the brush to apply.
The packaging is nice. Fully recycleable in most areas (which is a huge bonus for me); however the brush is a bit rough on my face. I switched to my standard softer kabuki brush to apply. The mirror is good for touchups, but is a bit small for full face applications.
The sifter itself is too shallow for my tastes as there is not enough “room” to really tap out a bit of product without spilling it onto the floor or countertop.
The powder contains mica for light-reflecting and kaolin for mattifying. Those with breakout prone skin should test this product carefully as it does contain glycerin and glyercin-related ingredients. There is also come citrus (grapefruit) oil that could act as a potential irritant. And only 24.9% of the ingredients are certified organic. (See ingredient list below.)
As for the veil itself, it wears well. Mine lasted all day and really set my makeup. The finish was soft, not overly matte (you know… that truly *fake* matte look that you see on the streets?). There is a mild scent to the powder- a slight herbal reminiscent of the Tinted Moisturizer from the Organic Wear line. Coverage is minimal, but as it’s not billed as a “cover up” it does the job of veiling your skin nicely. It would score more points with me if the brush was not so rough, more ingredients were organic, and they lost the glycerin; but the powder is nice enough to purchase again.
There is also a Bronze Finishing Veil available that adds a bit of glow to your face.
Physicians Formula Organic Wear Matte Finishing Veil Translucent is now available online at Drugstore.com or in local drugstores nationwide. Typical retail price is $13-14.

Product Review: Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer

After many hours of searching my local stores and coming up short, I finally found the clerks at my local drugstore opening boxes of Physician’s Formula Organic Wear! I sat right next to them and bounced on my toes. I swear they thought I was bonkers for being so excited about some new retail makeup coming in.
After waiting for them to unbox, I found they had bonus packs with a tube of Tinted Moisturizer and the Organic Mineral Veil for $14.99. Score One for Bionic Beauty!!
I picked up the Light to Natural color Tinted Moisturizer (TM from here on out…), due to Nenette’s recommendation that shades run a bit light. As soon as I got home, I washed my face and whipped out a fresh foundation sponge. I shook the tube, and shook again to make sure it was blended.
The TM makeup does have a scent, but I quite like it. It’s a trace of tea tree, citrus, and something else “clean”, possibly a bit of herb (basil?). Anyhow, if you do shake it up, it should apply nicely. I adore the coverage this makeup gives, and it does last through the day. SPF 15 helps protect your skin from sun damage. Here’s my sole dislike - after using my cell phone about half way through the day, I wound up with some of the makeup on my phone’s screen. Kinda icky. And it does contain Talc, so if you are allergic, I would beware. With my overly hyper-sensitive I had no reactions, dryness, or itching.
Big Green Bonuses: Free of parabens, Free of synthetic preservatives, No harsh chemicals, Fully recyclable (and made from recycled material) packaging, No animal testing, EcoCert certified.
I’ll certainly be a buyer again.
Ingredients: Active-Titanium Dioxide 3.95%. Inactives- Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Fruit Water*, Water, Alcohol SD*, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil*, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil*, Persea Gratissima Oil*, Lecithin*, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil*, Talc, Butyrospermum Parkii*, Olea Eurpoaea Fruit Unsaponifiables, Garcinia Indica Seed Butter*, Alginic Acid, Aluminum Hydroxide, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Wheat Bran Glucosides, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Hydrated Silica, Iron Oxide, Xanthan Gum. *Produced from organic farming.
You can buy the Physician’s Formula line online at Drugstore.com (EXCEPT the Tinted Moisturizer. Weird, huh?) or try your local drugstore, Target (mine hardly has any still), Walmart (had very good luck here) or other mass market retailer. The Organic Wear website has a store locater. Prices are around $9-10 a tube.

Panic! Where is my mascara?
Yesterday, my tube of mascara by Physician’s Formula ran out. So I headed down to the store to grab another… After visiting three local stores, not one had the Mineral Wear mascara in stock. I guess I will be mascara hunting over the next few days (pouts).
I did pick up a tube of the Boots No. 7 Curling mascara to give it a shot, but I still want to find my old standby. Expect a review on the Boots mascara after I’ve had a chance to thoroughly test it!
