Physicians Formula to Launch New Organic Line

Physicians Formula MakeupPhysicians Formula Makeup
Physicians Formula is launching a line new of cosmetics called Organic Wear. This line will be the first certified organic makeup line to be sold in mass market retailers (such as Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS and the like).

Personally, I pretty excited to try it! I’d love to be able to pick up some affordable organic/green-friendly makeup while doing my normal shopping.

I haven’t heard the launch date, but will certainly keep everyone informed.

Does anyone currently use an organic makeup line or plan to try Organic Wear?

Bionic’s Look: Amped Up Natural

Today I decided to amp up my standard natural makeup application with a bit more drama. Still suited for daytime, but with a little extra jazz.
The products I used:
Bionic Beauty's Amped Up Natural makeup look
Read on for details and the final look.

Cosmetics Used:

  • Face: Everyday Minerals in Intensive Medium
  • Blush: Sonia Kashuk in Shimmering Posy
  • Brushes: by Sonia Kashuk (as pictured)
  • Lips: L’Oreal Color Juice Stick in Mango Tango
  • Eyes: Physician’s Formula eyeshadow quad in Metallic Canyon, Jane eyeshadow duo in Browny Points and Hazlenut.
  • Eyeliner: Physician’s Formula Eye Definer in Ultra Black
  • Lashes: Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Mascara in Ultra Black

Applied my normal mineral makeup foundation, followed by a light peachy blush on the front circles of cheeks.
Swept the light taupe color from the Physician’s Formula shadow quad onto my lid, into the crease, and slightly above the crease.
Applied the light shimmery color (Jane’s Hazlenut) across brow bone.
Then applied the dark matte Browny Points (by Jane) into the outer corner of my lid (I *love* this color by the way!).
BLEND WELL!

Then I lined my upper lash line with the Eye Definer in Black. It’s a standard pencil but twists up to keep the point semi-sharp. It’s a very smooth product and doesn’t pull your lids. Smudge the line very *slightly* by using a teeny brush and lightly swishing over the eyeliner.

Apply one coat of the Mineral Wear mascara.

Lips get one coat of Mango Tango and good to go. Mango Tango smells delicious and is nicely moisturizing.

Estimated time: 10 minutes.
Everything is available at Target or your local drugstore with the exception of the Everyday Minerals.

Reviews: My search for a performance mascara

A few month’s back I ventured out onto that inevitable search for the holy grail of mascara. I was unhappy with the performance of my current mascara. It had the usual complaints- clumping, smudging, flaking.
I tried classics and newcomers alike: Maybelline Great Lash, Cover Girl Fantastic Lash, L’Oreal Voluminous, and Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Mascara. Read on for the results of my trials…

The Maybelline Great Lash caused an eye reaction on my second day using it. Needless to say, I had to chuck it. Sad, since I loved this mascara growing up.

The CoverGirl performed well, but did smudge. I have since rebought this in the waterproof formula for summer days at the lake and pool and it is *Fantastic*!

L’Oreal’s Voluminous did heftily inflate my lashes, but by the day’s end I had a few flakes, and smudgies. (This one might be great if you live in a drier climate.)

The Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Mascara is now my favorite. It makes my lashes super long, it’s very affordable, easy to find, doesn’t clump/flake/smudge or otherwise ruin my eye look. There’s no stinging fumes in my eyes and the packaging is sleek and understated. However, the brush does take some getting used to. But now, I have a hard time figuring out how I got mascara on my lashes before this unique brush- it finds EVERY single little lash!
