Tidal Wave makeup look with blue gel eyeliner and navy mascara

Tidal Wave makeup look by Bionic Beauty

As women, we often shy away from color in our eye makeup. Browns and neutrals are great and certainly have their place. But it’s also nice to spark things up a bit! In this makeup look, I’ve used a shimmery blue gel eyeliner and navy mascara to create an easy makeup look that’s still peppy!

Bionic Asks: What’s your makeup today?

This week’s Bionic Asks
What makeup are you wearing on your face today?

Bionic Beauty's makeup look of the day

I’m wearing:

  • SPF 25, it’s an all natural blend of zinc oxide, aloe juice, and witch hazel from my local health food store.
  • Purely Cosmetics Silk and Pearl Primer powder
  • my holy grail foundation- Purely Cosmetics mineral makeup (just in case you missed my review of PC’s mineral makeup)
  • L’Oreal De-crease eye shadow base
  • elf Cosmetics Duo Eye Shadow Cream in Black Licorice (my review) – I used the lighter color (silver) on the inner half of my eye.
  • Bobbi Brown Brights palette shadow in Ultra Violet – UV went on the outer half of my eye & blended into the elf silver.
  • Maybelline Cool Effects Shadow/Liner in Black Frost – I lined my upper lashline very lightly with this and then ran a brush over to soften.
  • Shiny Mama Shimmer All in Ice – a fabulous micro-fine shimmer powder. I put it on my browbones for a highlight and in the inner corners of my eye to pop light around. Love, love, love my Shiny Mama!
  • Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear mascara in blackest black (my all time fave mascara!)
  • Ferro Cosmetics Crystal Mineral Veil in rose as a face highlight (on bridge of nose, top of cheeks, temples, and cupid’s bow)
  • Lips – Clinique Long Last Glosswear in Clearly Pink, with Shiny Mama’s Ice dabbed in center of lower lip.

Today is all about the green! And in honor of St. Patty’s Day, I created this green makeup eye look accented with gold shimmer, a gold-flecked blush, and topped with super glossy lips.

Warm brown eyeshadow look

by Bionic Beauty on 10.Feb.2009 · 2 comments

I created this look for a dinner out with my family and friends who were in town. Since I really liked how the colors worked together, I took some quick photos to share with my Bionic Beauties!

My tools…

  • Purely Cosmetics cream to powder eyeshadows in Frost and Bronzed Brown.
  • Shiny Mama Precious Gems liner (gold end). (I *adore* this pencil! It’s my favorite for highlighting, using in the inner eye corners, adding glitter over a matte lipstick or gloss. Highly recommended for your makeup stash!)
  • Physician’s Formula Eye Definer in black (or any other black eyeliner)
  • Me by Mezhgan’s Look at {me} volumizing mascara (this is one of the new ‘tubing’ mascaras. Love it!!)
  • Short smudger shadow brush, normal eyeshadow brush (mine are by Smashbox)

The steps…
First, line upper and lower lashline with the black eyeliner. Don’t worry about being too neat since we are going to cover all this up in a few seconds.

Line lashline with black eyeliner

Apply the Frost eyeshadow (the lighter of the two) with a large eyeshadow brush, across your entire eyelid and up past the crease. Blend out the upper edge until the shadow disappears into your brow bone.

Next use the deeper brown (Bronzed Brown) on the outer half of your eyelid. Basically from your pupil to the outside corner. I used the larger shadow brush for this. Now blend that same application of shadow out past your outer eye corner a bit (don’t overdo it, tee hee) and also towards the inner corner of your eye. Blend up into your crease. (Think of creating a concentration of color on the outer half of your eyelid, but blending the edges of that color out and about…)

Grab your smudger brush and some more of the Bronzed Brown and dab some extra color to that outer half of your eyelid again. Use the remaining color on the smudger brush and “smoosh” it under your lower lash line. This will create a smokey effect over that liner that we applied back in step 1.

Almost done (whew!)
Using the gold end of the Shiny Mama glitter liner (the other end is silver and perfect for cooler looks)- place a gold dab at the inner corner of your eye, by your nose. Blend it a little by dabbing your finger on it.

I also used the same gold liner to lightly draw under my lower lashline. I basically “bounced” the liner under my lashes to give some hints of sparkle.

One coat of a fab tubing mascara for extra long, defined lashes and ta-da. You’re done!
