I'm not sure on standard pricing, but I saw the kits on sale just yesterday for $4 or so at my local Sally's. I love their hair color (Ion Color Brilliance) so that's the only spot I go to for hair color anymore. But you're right, some things in there are over priced, but there can be some great buys too (especially the Ion hair care... wonderful!).
