Going short for summer?

by Bionic Beauty on 11.Apr.2010 · 9 comments

Are there any Bionic Beauties planning to go a bit shorter with their haircut this summer? If so, this article from Total Beauty may help with some ideas!

Personally, I’m growing my hair out a bit and but desperately need to get in for a trim. My hair seems to grow so unevenly it’s not even funny! After four weeks with no trim, some ends are up, some have grown down; it’s quite humorous actually. It’s as if different zones of my scalp are pushing out follicles at various speeds.

Anyhow, here’s the article. I hope it helps some of you ladies who are considering the very cute, and cool, short cuts for the warm season!

Yes, I have my summer cut. I always go shorter in the summer. Right now it is stacked up the back and then longer in the front. It is very fun and easy to take care of. I just wash and blow dry and then hairspray. It is so much cooler. My husband love it and says that I look like a new woman. However, I will let it grow out during the summer that way in the Fall and Winter it will be long again to keep my neck warm. Then around March or April I get it cut again. That has always been my cycle!

Hi Christine, That sounds like a gorgeous hair cut! Don’t you love that just a change in hair can make us feel so differently? I look at it as a tiny (and easy) way to re-invent ourselves occasionally.

I second your routine! It’s so much cooler to have shorter hair in the summer, plus it is typically low-maintenance! Less time styling, more time for life’s adventures! :)

Ever since I ended a friendship with someone a few years ago, I’ve been rockin’ short hair (previously, it was loooong). I love it, as it’s much easier for me to maintain and keep up. I can go about 8 weeks in between haircuts, partly due to my very curly hair, which grows out very well. My awesome hairstylist is another reason. I’d like to try an edgier style, but with my short curly hair, shape of my head and face, and high forehead, I feel I am somewhat limited in “edginess”. However, I am mucho happy with what I have. :-) I’m not complaining.

Hey Tashi, I went opposite of you. :) Ever since the divorce I’ve been growing mine out. However, I won’t let it get too long… my hair does funky things when it gets too long. It’s just completely unmanageable- half wavy in certain areas, half straight, flat… it’s just too much work to make it look nice plus with it long I think it makes my round face look even rounder. So I’m on the hunt for a mid-length cut with some style and edginess to it.

You know, if you want to do something fun, you could use these new things called Streekers. They are like little lipgloss applicators (the sponge tipped, wand varieties) with temporary hair color in them. Some of the darker colors would look awesome with your hair color! I have the blue, purple and green currently, but my hair is a bit too dark for them to show up much right now; but when I had your color they showed up very nicely. I’ve got a review coming up. Once they are dry you just brush and style like normal and they wash right out! That could be your “edgy” without a new cut! 😀

Wow, your pink streaks look fab-yoo-luss! 😀 Thanks for the temporary coloring ideas — never thought of that. Depending on the situation, I may be able to try it out. I just interviewed today at this very cool place, and IF I get the job, I might be ok to wear streaky colored hair. Even at my age. Hee-hee. Who says women in their 40s can’t have FUN?! 😉 I just did my main all-over Ion coloring last night, but maybe I’ll try this Streekers (such a hysterical name!!) sometime soon. I need to Google them, so I can find out how to buy them. Or, can you enlighten me, por favor? :-) Thanks!

After this one guy broke up with me, I was like you too — I grew my hair out. And out. And out. Then I ended a toxic friendship and decided I needed yet another change. Hence, the drastic haircut more recently. I feel like some purple or blue in my hair now, hmmm…. LOL!

Mine has been growing for about six months now.. I’m not sure how much longer I can stand it. I had a version of an A line bob stacked in the back, but soon realized that is now the hair cut everyone gets. So I am on the hunt for something unique, and different adding my bubble gum pink helped make me feel better about my hair though.

Jess, Same thing here!! I got that A-line bob just before it got super popular, and I truly adore that hair cut but like you, I now want something different. I’m growing mine out a little. It’s just touching my shoulders now (my hair grows unbelievably slowwwwww) and I’ve been celebrating by wearing low-placed pigtails and even pony tails. I don’t think I’ll let it get much longer though.

You got your pink highlights?!? I haven’t been on Twitter lately, did you post a picture? I LOVE mine too! Just touched them up Friday. Did you use Manic Panic? What color did you use?

I know Jess has seen this picture already, but for all the other Bionic Beauties out there, I just added a photo of my current hair style and new pink highlights to the article above. :)

Thanks Jami! I did use manic manic, and I loved it. I have had very little fading with their color. I used cotton candy pink, and I’m in love!!
