Hair Tips From the Pros at Butterfly Studio Salon

Some of the best salons and spas in America are located in busy New York City, and they draw extremely talented hair stylists and colorists. Today, I’ve got some exclusive tips from the stylists behind the trendy Butterfly Studio Salon.

Kattia, Nicole and Dana share their tips to keep your hair in shape for the upcoming dry winter, and throughout the entire year. No ticket to NYC needed!

“Brushing your hair 100 times a day will not make your hair grow faster, it simply stimulates the scalp but it will cause breakage. To help your hair grow faster, simply massage the scalp for five minutes at a time. This will also stimulate the blood flow and will NOT cause breakage.” ~ Kattia Solano, founder of Butterfly Studio

“First, apply a volumizing product on damp hair. Then flip your hair over and dry it upside down, which is the key to creating volume at the roots. At first, it will look a bit out of control, but you can set the hair with Velcro rollers or smooth out with a curling iron. If you use a roller set, blow dry with heat for a few minutes and then finish with cool air. Remove rollers and brush or run your fingers through hair. If you use a curling iron, then you can set the curls in place by spraying 2 inch sections with hairspray and curling.” ~ Kattia Solano

“If you have hairspray buildup: first shampoo hair then create a paste with baking soda and water. Work the paste into hair, comb through and leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse and condition for optimum results.” ~ Nicole Descoteaux

“If you have oily buildup: add a 1/2 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, such as Palmolive or Dawn, to your shampoo.” ~ Dana Vuljevic

For you lucky ladies that live in the NYC area, Butterfly Studio Salon is located at 149 5th Avenue 2nd Floor New York, NY, 10010.

Have you tried any of the tips mentioned above? What are your favorite hair care secrets?

I have long, thick layered hair. I love long, but love curl’s. I wash, use a good leave in detangler/styling lotion and when it’s dry..I use the old foam roller’s and set my head, the more roller’s, the more curl’ all depend’s on how I roll them too…the next morning I release the roller’s, clip up the curl’s and volumize and blow dry my root’s. Then I go outside and stand in the freezing cold for 5 minute’s.

I come back after cooling the hair, release the clip and the curl’s fall and last all day….I have tried everything but can’t set my hair wet or it will never dry. If I go to bed with wet hair, it’s still wet in the morning!

The old foam roller’s really do it! I’ve tried the hot rollers, spiral’s, velcro, new ceraminc Enzo Milano Iron, and nothing will last.

I am very careful to only use a BioIonic Dryer and Wow does it matter. It’s so worth it. I would never touch my hair with a regular one.

The Fekkai Product’s are great, Intelligent Nutrient’s, Living Proof, HerCut, Kim Vo, Ojon, Phyto, Bioionic and Terax are my current fav’s..but I’m openly exploring the hair product’s and welcome to suggestion’s or idea’s.

***If anyone want’s any particular product tested and reviewed, please share that with us here at Bionic and we will do our best to check it out for you!***
