I’m a huge fan of handmade soaps. They just add such a touch of luxury to the bathroom, not to mention they usually make the entire bath area smell amazing! When I was given the chance to try a few bars of Luv4Country Soaps, I jumped at the chance.
Bryna sent me the Celebration bar and the Activated Charcoal bar. When I first unwrapped the package, I thought “I can’t wash with these, they’re like little Picasso’s!”.
All the ingredients are listed smack-dab on the bar label and are clearly available on the website, which makes it really nice for people who may have skin sensitivities. I have incredibly sensitive skin, so I really appreciate not having to hunt for ingredients.
Celebration is made of: Olive oil, Coconut oil, Soybean oil, Palm oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Palm kernel, Shea butter, Fragrance, Kaolin clay, Colour, and Tussah silk.
It’s a beautiful bar- a swirl of turquoise, lime green, white and earthy yellow. And I can smell it as soon as I walk into the bathroom. It’s a great air freshener! I loved washing with this soap. The Kaolin clay, tussah silk, blend of oils and shea butter make it incredibly gentle and soft as it lathers. I was reminded of cotton balls. It’s a fresh, bright scent that I can’t quite place. The Luv4Country website describes it as an “effervescent scent” that will tickle your senses. Yep, I agree!
My other bar, which I made myself wait for, since I was even more excited to try this one… Activated Charcoal. It’s a detoxifying soap. I was very excited for this one since my skin seems to be holding quite a bit of congestion lately. I’m sure its the seasonal change, but I was anxious to see if the charcoal would help.
Ingredients for the Charcoal bar: Olive oil, Palm oil, Palm kernel oil, Coconut oil, Cocoa butter, Kpangnan butter, Sodium hydroxide, Activated charcoal, Lime/Cedarwood/Patchouli essential oils, Tussah silk.
This bar is a gorgeous black with perfect white swirls on the side. It’s striking (Can you call a soap bar striking? Well, it is.). It’s definitely a conversation starter when house guests spot it. The scent is mysterious but kept fresh with the hint of lime. Again, the silk and oils keep the bar moisturizing. And it did seem to clean out my congested skin a bit. Another winner… I will definitely reorder this bar.
Luv4Country is based in Canada but they’ll ship to the United States as well. Most of the bars are $5.17 USD ($5.50 Canadian) and they last a heckuva long time (The Activated Charcoal bar is $5.64 USD/$6.00 Canadian). I’ve still got Celebration hanging out in my shower!
A quick tip for your natural soap bars: Remember to keep them in a drier area of your shower, and place them on a wire rack or something that drains well. Nothing melts a homemade soap faster than swimming in water. If kept correctly, the hand made bars will outlast the commercial bars by far (with the exception of Lush soap bars… those last me less than a week no matter what I do! Lush is overpriced and under-quality in my opinion.).
