Bionic Beauty's beach look - makeup used

Natural, beach makeup look by Bionic Beauty

Heading to the beach with a dramatic face full of makeup just looks plain silly. If you can’t go bare-faced, here’s a simple and low-key natural makeup look to get you by.

Face: Purely Cosmetics Skin Smoothing Foundation in Sunkissed
Cheeks: Priia Cosmetics Skin Complexion Enhancer in Ethereal
Eyes: Jane eyeshadow duo in Hazelnut (the lighter shade in the duo), CoverGirl Lash Blast Luxe in Black Cabernet
Lips: L’Oreal Color Juice Stick in Chai Love You

Bionic Beauty's beach look - eye shadow and mascara

Jane shadow in Hazelnut, CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe in Black Cabernet

I applied Jane’s shadow in Hazelnut across my entire eyelid. For lashes- I coated the upper lash line only with CoverGirl’s LashBlast Luxe mascara. I used Black Cabernet since it’s more of a light brown.

My review of LashBlast Luxe mascara – I’m not a huge fan of this mascara actually. I wears well enough, but for a daily mascara it gives almost no length or volume over what you’re born with. Plus the “shimmer” CG brags about is not visible. At. All. But, that said, it *is* a perfect mascara for a no makeup look.

L'Oreal Color Juice Stick in Chai Love You

To keep lips natural, find a lipstick that has some gloss to it. And match it to your normal lip color. I’m wearing L’Oreal Color Juice Stick in Chai Love You. I’m a big fan of the Color Juice Sticks. They are basically a cross between lip gloss and lipstick.

The full "no makeup" look

For my face… I applied my favorite face makeup with a nice, light hand. Purely Cosmetics mineral makeup in Sunkissed just wear I wanted some coverage (around nose, under eyes). Then I dusted Priia’s Skin Complexion Enhancer minerals (I absolutely LOVE this stuff… seriously, every gal should buy some from Priia) in Ethereal (a peachy light bronze) on cheek bones, bridge of nose, brow bones and chin.

I totally agree……wearing a bunch of make-up at the beach is a bit much. What you do need is the facial sunscreen, mascara and a tinted lip balm. I oppose high heels, and lots of jewelry too. Way too flashy, unless your a celeb thats waiting for the paparazzi. Keeping it natural always looks better at the beach. Now all I have to worry about is how I look in my swimsuit-YIKES!!!!!!

Beautiful! Perfectly light and pretty- not overdone but yet you still look ‘polished’. 😉

I really like this look. I wrote down all the products so that I can try them myself.

I think you could still wear makeup at the beach, just tone down the colors. I would wear neutral colored eyeshadow, lip gloss, a little bronzer for my cheeks, and some waterproof mascara, preferably Maybelline, because they make one of the best waterproof mascaras out there! You can’t forget the SPF 50 or higher, too!

I wish I lived near an oceanic beach! Alas, I live in the land of a bazillion lakes, which is still very fabulous. When it gets mega hot and humid, as it is shaping up to be this week, I just slap on some mineral powder foundation and concealer (both with spf of 15 or more — anything other than mineral powder doesn’t work for me anymore, as I’m heading north of 40, and my skin can’t take some cosmetics, especially in the heat, anymore), some mascara, and top it off with some lip gloss. Nothing much. Just enough to make me “presentable” and feel good about myself! :-) Never heard of Priia. Thanks, Jami! Where does one find that line?

Thanks for your comments everyone! It was great hearing your thoughts on wearing makeup to the beach.

Tashi, For Priia, check out I also recommend http://www.purelycosmetics. Both are lovely mineral makeup brands and do not contain the fillers that Bare Escentuals and Pur Minerals contain. Those “fillers” are cheaper minerals and are usually what leads to breakouts, irritations, and clogged pores. :)

Have a great week everyone!

Love that natural look! I’m looking for a lipstick that adds a little color to the lips, and that one looks like the perfect choice!
