Is your makeup contributing to breakouts?

I’ve been talking quite a bit about acne causing ingredients and common skin allergies lately on Bionic Beauty. This little tidbit is a “quiz” from Total Beauty. You basically go through and check off information about your skin. While it is far from all-encompassing, it may help guide you in the baddies that could be present in your cosmetics, or just things you might have been slacking on it your beauty routine (ah hem… have you washed your brushes in the past month?)

My results were basically that it’s not likely that my makeup is causing my breakouts. Which is true since I’ve switched to Purely Cosmetics’ mineral makeup and a truly all-natural skincare routine to try to get all my skin issues cleared up. The mineral makeup is certainly helping. And my skin seems to be detoxing and on the med! I clean my brushes once a month (anymore frequently and I’d be washing brushes for a full day every few weeks.)

Take the quiz and let me know what you thought. What were your results? Do you experience frequent breakouts?

Stress, the environment and hormones all contribute to unsightly blemishes … but could part of the problem be your makeup? Take this quiz to see if your makeup products and practices are what’s making you break out.

Your makeup likely isn’t causing breakouts.

Chances are your makeup isn’t the culprit but if you’re getting more pimples than usual, it’s time to reevaluate your personal care routine. Keep your hair care products away from your face and double-check that you’re using the right products for your age and skin type.

Also since your stress level, hormones and medications can affect your skin, see a dermatologist to clear up any mystery breakouts. If you’re just experiencing spot trouble, try one of our Top-Rated Acne Fighters. Good luck!

HI Amanda, I actually beg to differ. Your makeup can be just as likely a culprit as your skin care can when contributing to breakouts. Makeup ingredients are not regulated for the most part and many have petrolatum chemicals, talc, bismuth, lanolin, etc which can all contribute to breakouts in many people. Granted, these chemicals may not cause a breakout in everyone, but it can. Even products labeled non-comdeogenic commonly have pore-clogging ingredients.

Which are your Top Rated Acne Fighters? Do you work with a certain company?

Ahhh… nevermind! I see now. You were just posting your results from the Total Beauty quiz. Sorry, I totally misunderstood! I apologize. I thought you were saying that makeup doesn’t cause breakouts in people. Ha ha! 🙂

Again, sorry for the misunderstanding. 😀
