When Essie launched their Spring 2009 nail polishes, most of us were enamored with Mesmerize.
Mesmerize nail polish by Essie
Well ladies, it’s just gorgeous in real life. The medium blue cream is very flattering on cool-toned skin. It’s punchy, summery and like all Essie formulas- it wears very well and applies like a dream.
If you’re like me and can’t find Essie’s newer polishes in your local stores, you can order them from Essie.com for $8. If you’re interested in trying some of their basic shades, be sure to check out your local Target store!

I love it!! I’ve tried the purple and the pink so far… and Ive been really into neon yellow… but this is my new color that I’m trying next, for sure!! (I’ll review it too!)
Lauren, I’m looking forward to your review! Let me know when it’s up.
Essie is on the expensive side (as a matter of fact, the brand just came to the drugstore that I frequent, so before that, I don’t even see it around), but this is a beautiful blue. Maybe I’ll grab one when I see it
Halifax, What drugstore have you found it in? Mine aren’t carrying it yet, but I’ll keep an eye out. I hope Essie comes to my area. My Target has it like I mentioned, and some salons, but it’s not too prevalent down here in Florida.
And it’s a truly gorgeous blue in person. The photos look nice, but it is simply amazing in real life!
Love the Spring 2009 collection. My favorites are Flawless and Status Symbol. thanks for the Target tip.
)
Gracieo, You are welcome for the tip! I love Status Symbol too!!!
Trying different bright colors for summer! Thanks, love this color. ;p
Peace & Love: Victoria
Thanks Victoria! This is a great blue for most skin tones as well!
love that summery shade of blue
Anna, It is perfect for summer, isn’t it? Reminds me of an island lagoon!
OK, that’s it- I’m going to have to try Essie polish!
M.J., I think you’re going to love Essie! I hadn’t tried them for soooo long, but now I am hooked. They are worth the extra few bucks over the drugstore brands. But I also love Sally Hansen Salon, OPI and China Glaze. And I stock up when those brands go on sale at Sally’s or drugstores!
Let me know what colors you get!!

Are these polishes ok for little girls?
Hi Carol, Essie polishes would be perfect for younger girls. They are free from the “Big 3″ chemicals. These are: Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde and Toluene. However, they still should always be used with supervision and be sure to not let her lick her polish or chew her nails until they are fully dry. Ingesting any sort of chemical or paint is bad.
Other Big 3 free polishes that I love are: NYC (at local drugstores for cheap), Sally Hansen Salon (at your drugstores), Color Club, China Glaze (look for them at Sally Beauty Supply), OPI (Salons, Target & some drugstores), and Nicole by OPI (Walmart, Target, and CVS).
I hope that helps and here’s a big WELCOME to Bionic Beauty!!
All the best,
Jami (aka Bionic Beauty)
I’m a little late commenting on this but it’s a gorgeous color. I hope Essie having these types of colors continues. Other good places to buy Essie is online at Transdesign.com and 8ty8beauty.com. They have much better prices. Many more brands of polish are also available. Another terrific polish is BB Couture. It’s available from Overallbeauty.com. They have pretty and also wild colors. Especially for all the green lovers. Lots of shimmer and glimmer polishes. You really should check them out.
Lucy, I adore 8ty8beauty!! I have such a out-of-control polish collection… (ducks & hides). I think I need to attend PAA (That’s Polish Addicts Anonymous)- I have 2 tackle boxes full!!
That said, I’ve really been wanting to check out BB Couture. I also saw Illamasqua. Have you seen their polishes??? They ship from the UK (shipping is crazy expensive)- I am seriously wanting Rampage (a green, of course) and Baptiste (a purple).
Love that blue color by Essie. I’m thinking about painting my nails blue for Independence Day!
