New Organic Skin Care Line at Target

Shea Moisture organic face skincare at Target
Select Target stores (and online at Target.com) are now carrying a new exclusive line of organic skin care products called SheaMoisture. The products debuted in very limited release at the end of June, but are now making their way to more stores.

The new product line includes: SheaMoisture Body Wash, SheaMoisture Soap and SheaMoisture Lotion, Facial Washs and Scrubs. Target also introduced SheaMoisture Shave, a personal care solution exclusively for men experiencing ingrown hairs and razor bumps.

The ingredients are manufactured from African and Asian herbals and include aloe vera, jojoba oil, vitamins E and A.
Prices range from $1.99 to $19.99. The offerings include gift sets and full size products.

Have any Bionic Beauty readers spotted this new skincare line? (Just for the record, I haven’t yet… no luck on this end, darn it!)

New Makeup Releases from Spell Cosmetics

Last week, I introduced Bionic readers to a cosmetics brand that I’d just discovered- Spell Cosmetics. Well, they’re growing and have just launched quite a few new makeup and skincare products!

  • Naughty Mineral Collection
  • “Under My Spell” Face & Eye Primer
  • Spell Body Gloss
  • Harmony Mineral Foundations
  • Beard/tattoo Cover Kit

The Naughty Minerals sound fun, and I’ve already grabbed some of the Spell Body Gloss to try. Can’t wait to give it a go this weekend!

If you do place an order at Spell, don’t forget the exclusive Bionic reader discount. Just type “Bionic Beauty” in the comments field of your order and get a FREE mineral eyeshadow (that’s an $8 value)!

Product Review: Thevi’s Liquid Mineral Foundation

Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation SPF 15 by Thevi Cosmetics
Thevi Cosmetics is unique in many aspects. When I was first introduced to the brand, I really took note of how well their marketing stood out from the throngs of standard cosmetics. Thevi is marketed towards what they call “the New Ethnic Market”. Who is the Thevi woman?

“She represents the New Ethnic Market. She is every light-to-dark skinned woman of Asian, South Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean descent. Sophisticated. Educated. With a multi-faceted lifestyle. Usually first generation American, she holds to the traditions of her family and her ethnic roots, often has close ties to the cultural diversity of other ethnic communities, while being deeply involved with the modern American lifestyle.” (~from Thevi’s website)

Their tagline? “Inner beauty made visible.” Love it! And the inspirational message above fits in so well with Bionic’s Achieve Powerful Beauty that I was immediately drawn to try to some of their beauty products…

Bionic Mascara by Smashbox

Smashbox Bionic Mascara
You knew I’d have to take a deeper look at this mascara at some point, right? At the end of 2007, Smashbox Cosmetics released “Bionic Mascara”.

Here’s what Smashbox has to say about the mascara:

THINK: Lashes with superhuman strength.
WHAT IT IS: A jolt of energy for lashes. Sure, we all want the illusion of fuller, longer lashes. But why stop there? Perk up lashes from the inside out with Bionic Mascara from Smashbox Cosmetics. It’s no fantasy: The ionic technology behind Bionic Mascara makes lashes longer and stronger. No more dry, brittle lashes when the makeup comes off at the end of the night—just healthy lashes as far as the eye can see.    Ionic technology now does for lashes what it’s done for hair as it strengthens, lengthens, and volumizes.

Bionic Mascara’s secret weapon is a chain molecule with a positive charge. The friction caused by sweeping the mascara brush across lashes causes a negative charge. The positively charged formula binds to negatively charged lashes with just one coat.

While the ionic formula promotes shine and strength, aloe, wheat protein, silk and olive oil go to work conditioning. Bionic Mascara’s specially engineered brush eliminates clumps and delivers carbon black color in one fell swoop. The long-wearing, water-resistant formula means longer, stronger lashes all day.

Has anyone tried this mascara? And if so, what were your thoughts? Being we share name-sake, I’d love to get some details on its performance.
