Achieve Powerful Beauty with Bionic Beauty™

Today we welcome Tammy Gibson for the latest installment of Achieving Powerful Beauty. Tammy is the mom of two children and knows the challenges that motherhood makes on one’s personal beauty routine! Her desire is to make each mom feel special about her looks and educated about the fashion and beauty decisions she makes. Her blog, A Mom in Red High Heels is her gateway to share her thoughts on beauty, style and life.

Without further delay, let’s see how Tammy “Achieves Powerful Beauty™”!

Powerful Beauty is finally finding the one treatment or product that changes your life! I found mine in a keratin hair treatment called the Brazilian Blowout ™ (Bionic Beauty note: If you haven’t heard of the Brazilian Blowout™, check out Tammy’s review!).

Keratin Treatments are designed to make frizzy hair chill-out. It’s a semi-permanent curl relaxer that is actually good for your hair as it has conditioning properties! While a woman with densely curly hair will still see curl when she lets her hair air dry, the curl will be much more relaxed and without frizz. If she chooses to blow it dry, it will take a fraction of the time it did pre-treatment. Women with slightly wavy hair will find their hair to be straight, sleek and shiny. A keratin treatment will typically last between 2-4 months. The hair will gradually return to its pre-treatment state.

You won’t need to wear your hair stick-straight everyday with a keratin treatment, which I believe is a widely misunderstood myth. You can still style your hair in any fashion you choose. Curl will hold if you choose to go curly. You can still achieve a sexy beach wave with the proper products. The difference is when you start with your hair treated with the Brazilian Blowout™, you will start with sleek, shiny hair instead of frizzy or uncontrollable curl, making your styling time quicker and easier.

I’ve found with the Brazilian Blowout ™, I’ve had more time to spend with my family, less time with my blow dryer! I cut my hair’s drying time, from fresh out of the shower to completely dry, by 23 minutes! That’s a lot of time! I also found that my hair is easier to comb, has less tangles and I can literally rough blow dry it and go on the days when I’m running short on time. Pre-BB, I could never do that!

Keratin hair treatments are one hot topic in hair care these days. Everyone is wondering if the treatments are all they are talked up to be. Do curly girls really rejoice? With the cost starting at $350 for most professional treatments, this is one decision you need to consider carefully before investing in it. There are many brands of keratin treatments available. Each brand of treatment works differently depending on your hair type. They also contain different chemical make-ups so be sure to do your research before receiving a treatment. Some brands contain formaldehyde, which can be very irritating to some people including skin irritation, respiratory difficulty or eye irritation. Some formulas contain chemicals in the “hyde family” which are less irritating but can still cause problems for some people. Other formulas contain no “hyde” chemicals at all and are the most gentle keratin treatments. Beware of deeply discounted treatments, check the label and the stylist’s certification.

Having had other types of keratin treatments and having fought my oddly textured hair for 30+ years, I believe that the Brazilian Blowout™ is my life changing, powerful beauty tool of choice!

Thanks Tammy! Since I have darn straight hair, I haven’t tried keratin treatments, but I do have my “must-haves” in the beauty realm. My weekly Aztec Clay mask, YBF Skincare (for anti-aging, eyes, and specific face issues), and Lexli Skincare (for face wash, daily SPF face lotion, and exfoliating), Purely Cosmetics makeup (I had given up on mineral makeup being actually working and free of bad ingredients), White Sands’ 24/7 The Cure and Porosity, and L’Oreal EverPure Sulfate-Free shampoo and conditioner (read my full review). These items are my absolute best finds. I whole-heartedly and without reservation recommend them to friends and family (and nope, I don’t get any monetary benefit for loving these products either).

Have you found you must-have beauty treatment? If so, I’d love to here your recommendations!

Catch up on the rest of the Powerful Beauty features. And remember to check back each Friday for another dose of how to Achieve Powerful Beauty!

I am with you on the aztec healing mask.. it’s simply amazing! I am also loving using simply jojoba oil on my face nothing more. I use peter coppola blue shampoo to keep the brassy away. I love my purely minerals make up. I am becoming a huge fan of those HIP liners… too!
