Dove’s new Heat Defense hair care line promises to help repair the battle damage we willingly inflict on our locks daily. Flat irons, curling irons, hot water, blow dryers, sun. It’s all a drain on the strength of your hair.
So I tested out Dove’s Heat Defense Therapy “Heat Activated Protect & Shine Mist”.
How to use: Spritz onto damp hair before blow drying. Or spray onto your dry hair before curling or flat ironing. In my testing, choose one or the other. Don’t use the spray for both steps or you’ll end up a bit crunchy. The first time I used this spray, I assumed it was going to be more like a leave-in conditioner spray so I overdid it a bit.
Morale of the story? Start with a few sprays and adjust it up from there.
I did feel it protected my hair somewhat especially with the hair dryer- I had less flyaways as well. There was not much added shine so if you like sheen, you’ll probably still need a shine spray overtop.
As with most Dove products, the price is right for this item… and it’s readily available in your local drugstores or for $4.75 at drugstore.com
