Back in the fall, I was majorly lusting over Pur Minerals’ Black Amethyst lipstick. It’s a gorgeous deep berry shade and was perfect for the darker lip trend.
Even without fall, I am still sporting darker lip colors occasionally. I tend to just wear whatever suits my mood rather than what follows the “trends”. Anyhow…
My wonderful friend, Paula (of Older Girl Beauty fame), ordered a tube of Black Amethyst but felt it was too dark for her. So she surprised me with it!
I love the color! It’s great with a nude or neutral eye, or to create an “old Hollywood” look. The application above is without lip liner (yeah, I’m a rebel that way) and only one quick coat. It evens out much better with 2 coats and when applied with a lip brush. There’s no icky scent, and it’s just plain fun to wear.

That is a beautiful color and so deceiving – you would think it was a deep purple almost black shade! You know you can cut the color pigment down a notch or two by using lip balm prior to lipstick application – it’s like creating an entirely different color (but you probably already knew that!!).

Thanks everyone! And thank you Melissa for that cool tip! I often “dilute” my more pigmented lipsticks with a clear gloss or I apply them with a lip brush to make it more of a stain. All good ways to make it less shocking.

Hi!! I really loved that color!! Im asking where can I buy it, cause I live in mexico! Anyways, it’s a very pretty color, but i don’t really think is the best color for me…
Hi Bruna, I’m not sure if Pur Minerals ships internationally. But you should definitely email them. If not, they may know someone in your area that carries their makeup products.
