Spring is just around the corner and rather than post all the press releases about new collections being released, I thought we’d step outside the box and look at lip colors that are light, bright, and perfect for Spring 2009.

Clinique Long Last glosswear SPF 15 in Mystic. Cost: $14.00 at Clinique.com. Mystic is a super cool grape gloss with silver shimmer. It’s gorgeous on; my photo does not do this gloss justice! Great for spring if you want a darker lip look (like me) or tend to look washed out when wearing all the light pinks and corals.

***
L’Oreal Colour Juice lipstick in Mango Tango (not shown in the group photo- I forgot to include it, oops!). This is one of my long term favorite lipstick colors. It’s semi-sheer but with a nice shine and it feels light on the lips. Plus the fruity scent is nice too.
Mango Tango is a nude with rosy brown undertones. Similar to Bobbi Brown’s new (and limited edition) Rosy Brown (from the Bobbi Brights collection). You can find it at most drugstores or drugstore.com for $9.50.

e.l.f. lipgloss in Flirt, $1 at e.l.f. Cosmetics. This color is a slightly lighter version of Clinique’s gloss in Clearly Pink. It’s a translucent bubble gum pink. Great on most anyone’s lips. It’s a fun novelty gloss & perfect at $1.

Keep on reading… lots more suggestions!

e.l.f. Super Glossy lip shine in Watermelon for $1. I don’t have this color, but it’s new at elf and comes packed with SPF 15!
***
Clinique’s Long Last glosswear SPF 15 in Clearly Pink. $14 at Clinique.com. Clearly Pink makes a super top coat since it’s a translucent deep pink. Or use it alone to add dimension and shine to your lips. Either way… love it!

Smashbox lip gloss in Lovely. This gloss came packed in the Smashbox 2008 holiday lip gloss kit. It’s a shimmer peach with subtle golden glitter. Since it’s not available anymore, I looked for similar colors. There’s a fab Desert Chic lip gloss trio on sale right now (3 colors for $13.50) that have some outstanding Spring and Summer shades!

***
Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Lip Color in Retro Pink (limited edition from the Bobbi Brights collection). You can grab them now for $22 at BobbiBrown.com. I have a feeling this color will be pretty popular. I typically shy away from pink creams. They tend to make me washed out and bland looking. This lipstick is creamy, semi-sheer, and a nice muted color. I’m very impressed and glad I’ve got it!

***
Clinique’s Butter Shine Lipstick in Ribbon Pink. This was a limited edition for Breast Cancer Awareness month, so I’m not sure if you could still pick it up. I couldn’t find it on Clinique’s website… boo!

***
Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Lip Color is Rose Brown (limited edition from the Bobbi Brights Collection). Like Retro Pink above, the Bobbi Brights collection promises to be a big hitter this Spring. While this color is more of a neutral than Retro Pink, Rose Brown is a lipstick that will be in your makeup bag for a long time. It’s above trends, a true classic color. $22 at BobbiBrown.com.

Me by Mezhgan’s kiss {me} intense color lip gloss in Tease {Me}. This color is a peachy shimmer that is pretty opaque for a gloss (the website describes it as a ‘pink’ but my tube looks more like Luscious Me in color). It’s certainly not sticky yet hangs around on my lips for quite a few hours. I don’t think it would work well for people who have darker skin tones since this color is so light, but Mezhgan has some other color options. The gloss applies with a brush which was kinda nifty- more like using a lip brush than a hard-to-handle wand. $16.50 at MeByMezhgan.com.

Stay tuned for more Spring 2009 lip color suggestions from Bionic Beauty. I’m going shoppin’ for more shades and colors to show you ladies! In the meantime, do you have any favorite spring colors in your makeup kit?

I L-O-V-E these colors! I’m a pale gal myself, topped with blonde hair, so I am always scowering the racks for new glossy pinks and corals. Thanks BB!!
Great suggestions for spring, thanks.
My favorite (and one of yours) is the Clinique Long Last Glossware, SPF15.
I like: the ease of application from its own sponge, the staying power, the SPF, you can refresh it when needed without it getting gooey, and it leaves a strong enough gloss to wear alone. Also, it holds up in the heat or the cold weather. My color is “Bonfire.”
The only drawback: when you get to the end of the tube, there is some wasted product because it is hard to get out.
I love the Clinique Mystic!
Is it really long wear?
I think I used to have a tube or two but can’t remember!
Thanks!
Joyce, Thanks! I hope you enjoy them. Do you have any suggestions from your collection?
Luci, Ooooo… Bonfire is a gorgeous color!! Great choice! I was thinking of cutting my tubes open at the end. Of course, then I can’t tote them with me, but I can use them up for at-home application. Or possibly scraping the leftovers into the empty mini mineral makeup & eyeshadow pigment jars I have laying around.
Sherry, It’s VERY long wear for a gloss! I usually get hours and hours out of it, even with drinking and smacking my lips together constantly (argh, bad habit). Plus the SPF is a wonderful bonus!
For everyone- I grabbed a TON of new colors this week, so I’ll be shooting photographs of new suggestions this weekend. LOADS of great colors from the new drugstore lines too!
Cheers,
BB

ABC Beauty NYC, First off, welcome to Bionic Beauty! And secondly, I just got some of the Natural Beauty lip products too during my last drugstore trip. I adore their glosses. Thanks so much for sharing your favorite colors. I’m going to look for those this week!
Cheers,

Hi can u post here a picture of your lips wearing e.l.f. Super Glossy lip shine in Watermelonelf lipgloss in Watermelon? I am looking for elf product that can give me a glittery baby pink lips from their lip products. thanks
Hi Fourever, Welcome to Bionic Beauty! Unfortunately, I don’t have elf’s lipgloss in Watermelon. You could try Fairy or Flirt. I have pictures of those here: http://bionic-beauty.com/3-elf-lipglosses-a-product-review/
I’ll add Watermelon to my wish list though. Hopefully I can order from e.l.f. again soon! Gotta watch my budget.
I hope this helps you out. And I hope to see you around the website again!
Best,
BB
