I bought a retractable kabuki brush from CVS (essence of beauty) & I think it is pretty good. It is really dense & soft. I think it was about 9.99. If you hold out they always have a buy 1, get 1 free or 1/2 off. Actually this line of brushes are all pretty good.

I buy their small angled brush–cheap, stiff enough, and very precise. Always pick up a couple on BOGO, too

I haven’t tried any of the Studio 35 brushes, but I agree, that is a great price for a good kabuki brush.

I recently bought an excellent kabuki brush from the Aromaleigh mineral makeup site. So soft, minimal shedding, and dense taklon brushes are the bomb!

I’ve yet to come across a manufacturer of retractable brushes that are decent! Either the hairs are cheap, the powder flies everywhere but where it’s supposed to, or the pump doesn’t work! I think they’re more gimmick than value, IMHO. If you want something in travel form, buy an empty 5 or 10 gram jar, and transfer some powder into it (make sure you put a sifter seal or at least scotch tape over the holes), and bring a short handled brush with you.
