Tidal Wave makeup look by Bionic Beauty
As women, we often shy away from color in our eye makeup. Browns and neutrals are great and certainly have their place. But it’s also nice to spark things up a bit! In this makeup look, I’ve used a shimmery blue gel eyeliner and navy mascara to create an easy makeup look that’s still peppy!
Makeup Look using Flirt, Purely Cosmetics and Shiny Mama
Makeup used for this look-
- Purely Cosmetics gel eyeliner in Tidal Wave ($12 at PurelyCosmetics.com)
- Shiny Mama ShimmerAll in Ice ($15 at ShinyMamaBeauty.com)
- Flirt’s Lash-a-delic Mascara in Groovy Blue (available at Kohl stores)
A close up of the Tidal Wave gel eyeliner
You can also see the brilliant blue of the Flirt Mascara while on the wand. It dries to a navy on your lashes.
The steps-
- Dip a liner brush in the Tidal Wave gel eyeliner and swipe across your upper lashline. My favorite liner brush came packed with my Jane cream eyeliners (from the drugstore).
- Curl lashes if you’d like, then apply Flirt Mascara in Groovy Blue to upper and lower eyelashes. It looks a bit scary in the tube, flourescent blue, but it dries to a dark navy on your lashes.
- Dab Shiny Mama’s ShimmerAll sponge in Ice at the inner corner of your eyes. Blend it out with your finger.
- And you’re done!
The final look...

That look’s really cool! I’ve been experimenting with electric blue liner to create looks like this.
I usually wear purples because they make my green eyes stand out! I have the browns but after selling MK I learned to move away from that color palette and expirement more!
Love the blue on you!
Jami you have beautiful eyes- I’m sure you hear that all the time. I have brown eyes and am chicken to stray from the neutrals.
I’m curious about how you take those close ups. they are so clear..I think I can see a pool I see in the reflection of your iris!
Cris – you’re right! I see a pool too!
This has to be one of my favorite shades I’ve seen on you – even without the bias. It looks gorgeous!
Cris and Robyn, yep! Bingo! It’s my pool. I always stand right there because the light is diffused through the screen enclosure and the screen door.
And thanks for the compliments on my eyes, and the pictures. I take them with the “Super Macro” setting on my Olympus Stylus 9000. It’s a 12mp (but I didn’t want or need anything that high, and don’t think you have to have anything over 6-7 for web work). Anyhow, I picked this camera because of it’s Super Macro ability. With all the makeup shots I do, it was a must. I use the regular Macro setting for most of my product pictures. I want to set up a better format for those, but just haven’t found the time to make a little “photo box”.
So… those are the details!
Victoria, Have you tried the Pencil Me In liners? Those are nice too. I have a steel blue color from them. Love it as well. It’s soooo soft!
Stacy, Good for you!! I bet those purples do look gorgeous with your green eyes! You should send pics in for a reader look.
Cheers to everyone,
Jami
Someday when the kids are gone and I have 5 mins I may do that…lol
I’ve never tried the gel eyeliners, but I love the UD 24/7 pencils for a bit of sparkle – they really help open my eyes. I also love blue and plum mascaras, so I will have to check this brand out.
Stephanie, I’ve been meaning to try those UD liners. So you like them? How long do they wear?
In regards to the Flirt mascara… I adore the color and the formula was great at first. But now after about 30 days of not everyday use (since I was testing other mascaras as well), it’s quite clumpy. It’s almost so bad that I have to wash it off and start over. So I’m not sure I’d recommend them. I think there are better formulas out there, and you’d waste some money if you had to buy a new mascara every 30 days.
What blue & plum mascaras have you used? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Jami,
The wear on the UD pencils is fabulous! 10 hour days and I don’t have raccoon eyes – just a little wear.
Right now I’m using Benefit’s Bad Gal Blue and Clarins Wonder Volume in Wonder Violet – it’s great for my hazel eyes. I haven’t tried any “all natural” but these two come off easily with remover and I haven’t had an issue with irritation.
it looks beautiful but i never use it my self. but now i will try it. thank you.
Thanks Yoga! And welcome to Bionic Beauty! I really hope to see you around the website more often.
Cheers,

I’ve never tried Pencil Me in liners, are they available in stores, or online? I’ve been taking an eyeliner brush, water, and eyeshadow to create eyeliner recently. I have like 15 eyeliner pencils so I’m trying to cut back! hehe!
Hey Victoria, I haven’t found them in stores yet unfortunately. I got mine about a year ago from Coastal Scents but I don’t think they carry them anymore. Hang on while I Google search… Looks like you can buy them direct here: http://www.pencilmeincosmetics.com/catalog_c283984.html
They are $6.99 each and have a TON of colors. I have Indigo if that helps. It’s a steel blue with shimmer. Here’s me wearing it: http://bionic-beauty.com/silver-bullet-makeup-look/ and my full review: http://bionic-beauty.com/coastal-scents-eyeliner-in-indigo-an-affordable-blue-alternative/
