Hi Jennifer, I haven't tried mixing minerals with jojoba so I can't say for sure how it would or would not work. However, I do think it might be a bit runny. Thanks for commenting on here, by the way. :) And please let me know if you try mixing some mineral makeup with your Jojoba. I'll try it in the next few weeks sometime and then maybe we can compare notes on here!
Have a great afternoon,
Jami

Can jojoba oil also be used instead of lotion to make the tinted moisturizer or would it be too oily or runny?

Hi Baby Saffron, First off, welcome to Bionic Beauty! And as for your mixing technique, you really do need to put the powdered makeup in, in small batches. Otherwise it will does mix and dissolve properly. There's also something from chemistry class- called the rate of saturation. Basically a certain fluid can only hold a certain amount of dissolved solids. Like if you put too much sugar into your tea, no matter how hot it is, or how long you stir- if it's past the point of saturation, the sugar that's "over" won't dissolve. Hence, adding things slowly. :)

I hope this helps! And I really hope to see you around BB in the future!
Best,
Jami

Update: Tried the tinted moisturizer idea tonight. I used the fragrance-free lotion that I already had on hand, mixing it in until the consistency looked right. Sampled it on my skin, and it looks great. Thanks again, Jami and Robyn, for the tips. :-)

Hey, Jami and Robyn, THANKS for the suggestions on making your own tinted moisturizer. :-) I used to buy a tinted moisturizer, but stopped, as it kept irritating my eyes. I don't think the tube even said not to use it around your eyes, but regardless, I don't buy that thing anymore. I have a bit of formerly compact mineral makeup, which broke up in my purse (in the compact, not all over, thank goodness). I scraped it all out and pulverized the Dickens out of it, saving it in a one-cup plastic storage container. I now use it like any other loose mineral powder. I'll have to try your tinted moisturizer idea with my leftover powder.

Robyn, Thank you for the great tip!! I've done that before too when I'm in a hurry, or my skin tone has changed a bit. I can add a bit of your darker minerals to darken my current mixture, or a bit more lotion to lighten things up.

I'm definitely going to try your layering tip though!! Especially around my eyes and uneven sections of my face. That way I can stay with a lighter/less makeup effect on my even skin; and have a bit more coverage exactly where I need it.

You ROCK! :-)

If you're in a hurry, you can do it in the palm of your hand. I take a drop or two of moisturizer, dump the loose powder on top, smoosh and apply! BTW, if you want heavier coverage, that's a good first layer. Once it soaks in, then buff additional layers dry.
