A friend of mine got the permanent eyebrow thing (aka, tattoos). She has to get them re-touched every once in a blue moon, actually, as they tend to fade slightly over time. I could never try it. I got a tattoo on my lower back 9 years ago -- I don't want the same sort of work going anywhere near my eyes! :::shudder::: I'll stick with drawing my brows on, when I feel it's necessary. The freedom to make them as you wish, yes, is nice. Plus, nowadays, the proliferation of long-wearing brow gels is super.

Suzann, Thanks for sharing. The stencils do sound difficult! I love though how you can change your brows up a bit for style/mood.

I wouldn't go under-the-knife either for a brow lift. And the permanent makeup sounds like such a commitment.

About 10 years ago I had this wild idea that I needed a brow lift. Not being an under-the-knife type person, I tweezed off my brows and did the "lift" by drawing new brows on. These new brows I put where I wanted them. I didn't know at the time that my real brows would never grow back, but at this point I'm happy with my drawn-on brows. Before I got good at this (art is not my strong point), friends would say, "Why don't you get the stencils?" or "Why don't you get that permanent makeup stuff for your eyebrows?"

The stencils didn't work because you have to get both stencils exactly at the same angle. It's HARD. Not that hand-drawing brows makes them any more symmetrical, but they look less weird than unsymmetical stencil brows. And permanent makeup - since regular God-given permanent eyebrows didn't work for me - would not be a good choice.

I'm happy. Every day I get to decide what mood I want to express through the creation of eyebrows. Some days I do a sharp, business woman brow (you have to be there), some days I do a smooth, flower-child brow, and either my friends are used to it or they're bored with the whole thing, because no one's said anything lately.

I think I got away with something here.
